To thing that making a bed is the most pointless exercise?

You wake, you throw back the covers and they stay there. That airs the bed.

12 to 18 hours later you get back in said bed, and pull the covers over. Job done.

Why the need to "make the bed"? My mother would occasionally be running for the bus because she had to make the beds before she left the house. Making the beds first thing in the morning was considered, and still is it seems, to be a standard. Why?!

As an adult who uses a bed to sleep in and bed room as ....well a room for a bed why would I waste precious sleep time to get up ten minutes early to make sure that the pillows are straight?

I never open the curtains either!

And for someone who says that I must be disorganised and careless....couldnt be more wrong! I am NEVER late, to the point where if I am not at least 10 minutes early for anything, I feel I am late. I am organised to the Nth degree its only been me doing everything for the last 5 years so I have to be. The communal areas of the house are very organised and tidy (usually), they had to be when I had 6 kids in the house. I got home from work tonight and felt irrationally pissed off that DS had left the remotes on the (otherwise bare) coffee table instead of in the basket Where.They.Live!! I was a bit of a dickhead on that one, I admit it, but I was tired after a very heavy shift.

But something I get in to, sleep, then get out of and dress and go....nah. Literally no one sees that room except me. Maybe if you use it as a place to go and relax/read/watch TV/get a bit of peace.....fair enough. That would be different. Its like my lounge now. I have 2 left at home and they are typical tween/teens who spend all their time in their rooms so the lounge is my haven and I like it to look and feel nice. I like to walk in and see it looking lovely, especially after I have spent a lot of time and ingenuity (and not much money, as I dont have any!) making it look like that after I finally got rid of an abusive ex.

I guess it depends on how much time you spend in your bedroom awake, for me its as long as it takes to get into bed and then how long it takes to get up and get dressed!

I don't want to. So I don't.

I make it in the sense that the covers are pulled back neatly and it airs until the next bedtime. It looks tidy but I couldn't make it the 'normal' way, an unaired bed makes me feel grim.

What’s the need to tidy anything around the house? You can just live like a slob. If those are your standards.
