It’s winter it’s dark by 7pm, my daughter hangs out with kids who live an hour away on the bus, she has to get the bus there alone and get the bus home alone. She wants to be home for 10pm as her friends can stay out until 10pm but they all live next to each other my daughter has to get the bus alone for an hour then walk almost 1 mile from the bus stop to our house. She said I’m being strict and very unreasonable because I want her home for 8:30pm and she said she would have to get the bus 7:10pm as it comes once an hour and it’s not fair!!! AIBU?????

I don't think you're being unreasonable at all. Not to scaremonger, but a teenager local to us got sexually assaulted on a bus the other week, and the followed by the offenders when she got off the bus, until she ran into a local shop and they called the police. This was in broad daylight, and I can't imagine how much worse things could have been if it were dark and she hadn't have had anywhere easily accessible to escape to. I know these things aren't common, but a lone young girl travelling and walking on a dark evening, shouldn't be a problem, but unfortunately it can be. Is there anyway one of her friends could travel back with her and sleepover, so she didn't have to do the journey alone?

My son is 12.5. He is usually expected home before dark unless he is at a friends and there is a prearranged lift. The one exception is the one night a week that he attends scouts. This finishes at 9 and he has recently started cycling back on his own. However, it is a back street route, well lit and he has his phone on him. He also knows to come straight home.
