Entire extended families at soft play/trampoline parks and the like

Why? I don't get it. Am in a trampoline park at the minute letting my two blow off some steam and there are multiple families here with mum, dad, gran, grandad on both sides, auntie, uncle ect ect all with one (if we're honest, too small to be here) child.

Why? I don't get it. They do it at swimming lessons too when your trying to get your kids in and out clogging up the changing rooms.

I find it weird too.
That said maybe I’m the strange one, I do a lot alone with my kids.
It amused me on bonfire night as walking up the street I was the sole adult looking after 4 kids, then there was a set of parents and a set of grandparents (4 adults) with 1 child.

Surely it is not that hard to understand - some people have families that like to do stuff together, Bonfire night being a good example. Other families don't - either because they don't want to or can't (working, deceased, divorced etc).

Not sure why one is better than the other? or one is weird?

As many people have said the A&E example is the outlier -I think we are all in agreement that 6 people shouldn't be at A&E with anyone (child or not). But soft play, farms, bonfire night, supermarkets - what is the big deal if people want to spend time together?

I didn’t specify which things I find weird. Hospital, viewing swimming and supermarket, yes I do find it strange that you’d turn those type of things into a gathering.

Soft play middling. Unless mid winter maybe.

Farms, zoos, parks no not at all weird.

My point in reflection to myself was more that I am very happy to look after multiple children on my own eg bonfire night, swimming etc and places where some people prefer to have an extra pair of hands- hence perhaps I’m unusual in that aspect.

I don't understand the idea that the whole extended family is in attendance at the hospital "for support". How many people does one patient need? How can 10 people support you in a way that 2 or 3 can't?

Obviously it's different if you have someone who needs to be physically helped around, or something like that, but if it's just "emotional support" I can't see how all these people are useful.

Especially if the group includes kids there that aren’t the ill ones. The best way someone could support me is take my kid home and look after them for me

@Morph22010 Exactly!

The whole extended family at a and e! One day I went and had to stand/ sit on the floor for 3 hours with a badly swollen foot because of the vast families accompanying a child with asthma ( who probably could have done without all that lot fussing and moaning)
