Text Rage

Do any texts give you the rage?

I have always hated my name being used in texts!

But now it's the reply of 'right ok'

AIBU?? Do you have any texts that set you on fire....!?

Not a specific thing but texts from my Mother generally give me the rage as she texts as if she is paying per word. When they go away she will text ‘arrived. Sunny’. If she wants to come over she’ll say ‘visit ok? Time?’ She speaks perfectly normally so why she has to text like
this is beyond me!

Yeah, I always read the 'thumbs up' as "I can't be bothered to type anything". It shuts down the conversation

That's precisely what it means. Not everyone enjoys conversing via text. Some of us just use it for short exchanges of information. That doesn't make it 'passive aggressive '. If someone I was talking to face to face gave me a strong hint that they'd prefer to end the conversation, I'd take notice, not carry on yakking.

But what's wrong with saying "I've got to go now. I'll talk to you later." ? People don't mean to yack on. They likely don't realise that's what they're doing. It's a bit...cruel to just thumbs up them as a passive-aggressive way (which it is) of saying shut up. In person or by text.

I also don’t mind the thumb but won’t even listen to voice notes 90% of the time. No one else needs to hear what someone’s saying about their daughter or mother in law and I’m usually with people (or checking messages out of camera shot on a teams message).

I feel heard.

Send me a text and I can glance at it in seconds. Send me a voice note and I have to move away from my kids / work / life, find headphones or switch off Bluetooth, then listen to you waffle for a minute before you get to the point.

grrrrrrrr. I’m getting the rage just thinking about it.

Voice notes instead of texts. It just says ‘my time is more important than yours’

Ahhh yes this!! 🙄

My boss sometimes replies “received” to emails/messages. Usually things like when we are letting them know we will be late/absent.

Nobody has poor attendance or timekeeping, and there is no “hope you feel better” or even “thanks for letting me know” - just “received”

They communicate completely normally face-to-face.

Thankfully not as common now, well to me anyway, but I can't stand people writing in text speak/code

I don't care on misspelling but if I can't read it I can't understand it

My friend does this. It's all "OK luv n well c u ther n av a cuppa" takes me forever to decipher

The thumbs up emoji. I hate it. It's literally saying "I don't care"

Not necessarily. Meet me at the pub at 8, followed by a thumbs up reply is fine

To me it would take longer to type that than the real words anyway
