Have you read anything by Terry Pratchett or Neil Gaiman? I’d recommend both. Recently finished Longbourn, which is a retelling of pride and prejudice from pov of the servants and thought that was decent.

If you wanted to change your mind and give romance a go Emma V Leech has loads of stuff on Kindle Unlimited. It’s all set in Regency - Victorian period. I’m not typically a huge fan of romance but I really enjoyed a lot of her books
