Footballers are a bunch of cheating, ridiculous drama queens.

I say this as someone who watches A LOT of professional rugby

All the drama, the over playing injury, the desperate way they try and get an advantage

They're an embarrassment.

One minute I'm getting a BBC alert saying Harry Kane is an all time top scorer, the best he's crawling on hands and knees in agony cos the ball hit him. Then he's on his feel again. Just cringe worthy

Do you have the option of turning the football off?

Just an idea....

lipstickwoman · 23/03/2023 21:22

Sadly not. I'm not the only one living here

I agree. As a lifelong football fan, (30+ years) I've seen the sport become pretty disgusting in terms of cheating. The World Cup was horrendous for it too. The amount of theatrics involved is ridiculous, it's like they all go to an acting school after training.
I actually prefer rugby now.

I agree. It is rather pathetic and spoilt my enjoyment of the game.

Do you have an alternative room that you could go into?

Just another idea

lipstickwoman · 23/03/2023 21:22

However I have now cos football fan DH fell asleep 😂😂

I hate rugby, it's just big men bashing into each other, no skill or finesse. If a footballer is fouled he needs to make it obvious to get the free kick. Yeah they probably over egg it a bit, but it's about getting the decision they're entitled too, if they just played on then they wouldn't get anything.

I'm not really a rugby fan. In fact I think rugby is a fools game. But they don't crowd round the ref whinging. They don't roll around in mock agony. They don't blatantly cheat.

And the fans all mix together drinking pints. Whole different mind set

They have to get drunk because the game's so fucking boring.

lipstickwoman · 23/03/2023 21:25

@MasterBeth I agree with you lol.

They don't need massive police presence though to manage it..

Why do rugby fans always hate football and usually hate with a passion?

God knows. They are two completely different sports.

I much prefer football, it's more skilful and athletic. Rugby is cumbersome and I find it really boring.

Petrarkanian · 23/03/2023 21:29

I agree my sister made me watch Man City a few weeks ago. They were like toddlers, ridiculous behaviour.

TheHoover · 23/03/2023 21:30

Football is the hooligans game played by gentlemen though

SecondhandMuck · 23/03/2023 21:33

I quite like watching both sports. But I'm a fair weather fan and only tune in for the international contests.

Everton v Southampton doesn't do it for me.

ilovesooty · 23/03/2023 21:36

I doubt if Everton v Southampton does it for many people at the moment 😂

Especially not us Saints fans 😭

BearPunter · 23/03/2023 21:40

I think the pertinent difference between the sports is that football is a non-contact sport and rugby is a contact sport?

user1471453601 · 23/03/2023 21:40

Footballers are a bunch of liars. If you exclude those who fight the government to get meals for starving children (Rashhford) and those who call out the government on their langue (linaker) and those who support
Him (Shearer and Wright, just to name a couple).

Most football clubs also run foodbanks.

are they really deserving of this kind of language?

TheHoover · 23/03/2023 21:42

Football is most certainly not a no contact sport

No professional footballer has ever smuggled fake blood onto a pitch.

No, you can have contact in football.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't a rugby player recently caught licking the bumhole of a woman who wasn't his wife. Down a laneway. Next to a Gregg's?

Who said romance was dead?!

I enjoy football but what annoys me the most are the players who do the diving and the time-wasting.
It's always good to see a decent referee dealing with it correctly.

MasterBeth · 23/03/2023 21:09

Rugby players are a bunch of ugly violent thugs.

Are you sure?

Dan Carter

I wouldn't call him ugly!

I've known some really nice men who play amateur rugby, including a colleague who used to play - he's an utter sweetheart.

Dan Carter: ‘Rugby needs fun, it needs characters, or it gets stale’

😂😂😂😂😂

There's someone who's never watched a full rugby match

IamaBluebird · 23/03/2023 22:14

Do I win a prize for knowing the Op would go on to mention rugby, just by the thread title.
