I don’t know if I do? I want to, I lost my dad (he was young relatively speaking) and never ever seeing him again is a painful thought, we only had 30 years (we never have enough time though so we) but I don’t know if i actually believe in one, specifically in the theistic sense.

do you believe in one ? What do you believe?

My dad (actually SD but in my life for 47 years so 'step' feels like semantics .. I'm 58 ) died on the 5/3 .. my mum died on the 13/3 .. I absolutely believe they are 'together' .. although presently they are both in the same mortuary awaiting cremation..

Luckily I have a faith . I don't know where I would be without it.

mellongoose · 23/03/2023 20:27

I'm not sure. I want to believe so that those I love are there.

My baby girl died before she was born. She was kicking and then she wasn't. She died. Where did her energy go? She was still inside me. I delivered her body but she lost her life force whilst still part of me.

namechange8621 · 23/03/2023 20:28

I also believe that you cannot escape from the prison of constantly reincarnating until you have worked through all of your shit. the shit which you don not aggress or exacerbate will influence your 'lot' in subsequent incarnations until you face it and sort it out. I think I'm coming back
Those who manage it (very few) stop reincarnating and ascend.

Yes without a doubt. No one will ever persuade me otherwise

smileladiesplease · 23/03/2023 20:32

Yes I do absolutely.

Mum died 2 years ago and I know she sends me signs. My mil died literally days after dds were born and dh saw her days after. My dds use phrases she did it's bizarre.

A psychic described my fil to a T and mentioned things she literally could not know as no one but me did. Fil had timed my contractions for ds 2 (32 years ago) so way before social media and she mentioned how fil had been proud of this and that we had laughed about me drinking mint sauce which I did in gallons while pregnant.

So yes I do. Your dad is with you op

Suzi888 · 23/03/2023 20:32

I’d like to but I don’t. I lost my dad when I was quite young too, I’m sad he didn’t get to see DD.

I just think what about murderers?
Whet about animals do they “come back” all the ones we’ve killed/eaten. If not, why not? Because we choose who gets to come back…

I also think we’re very small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 23/03/2023 20:34

No, I do not believe in an afterlife. We are born, we live, we die and that's the end. We may stay in the memories of people until they also die.

Personally I'm quite happy with the idea of just becoming compost, either through decomposition or through my ashes being somewhere.

I don't think people aare important enough in the universe to warrant anything more.

I'm a maybe, but I have had a couple of odd experiences after people have died, were they trying to communicate or was it just me? One was particularly odd because I didn't know the person had died at the time.

iusedtobeasize8 · 23/03/2023 20:37

I do. I felt the presence of my Mum once. It was almost like an out of body experience. Icy cold breath on my face and I gasped loudly and uncontrollably as 'something' rushed through me.

I think depending on the religion, animals don’t have immortal souls, but I do know some religions, specifically Islam that although animals don’t have souls mention that they will be gathered to their lord at the end

wonder If there’s a thread on visitation dreams or presences felt of a deceased loved one…

OP posts:
Magenta65 · 23/03/2023 20:41

I do. I’ve seen a ghost, in daylight. My sister has had similar experiences and we had a
spirit at my mothers home for many years. Since losing family members I have spoken with mediums who have been able to tell me things no one would know other than those who have passed, things about my life they have seen etc and it’s solidified my belief in the after life

namechange8621 · 23/03/2023 20:41

I believe in the distinction between animals deemed suitable for human consumption versus all the other ones.
There are a few childhood pets which I have had extremely vivid dreams about and my very favourite tabby whom I would love to meet again probably more than anyone besides those in direct lineage.

JupiterFortified · 23/03/2023 20:43

Yes, I believe. I’m sorry for your loss, I’ve been there and it’s awful x

Magenta65 · 23/03/2023 20:44

Along with the ghost and seeing mediums I’ve had many dreams where I’ve had visits from loved ones and even had a medium pass on a message to
say my loved one hadnt meant to scare me when they woke my a few nights before and I saw a figure. They were just checking in. When I lost my loved one even friends commented that’s they felt a presence in my home, now years on they say it’s left

CloseYourMouthLynn · 23/03/2023 20:44

I'm not religious and don't believe in heaven and hell, but since my brother died last year I can't believe he's just gone. I like to think he's zooming around in the cosmos, looking down somehow. Irrational I know, but I guess it's a comfort thing.

Deeplydevoted · 23/03/2023 20:48

As a Roman Catholic I believe that immediately after death, our soul separates from our earthly body and we stand before God for judgement. We then enter heaven, Purgatory or hell. Heaven is the ultimate end and fulfillment of the deepest human longings, the state of supreme, definitive happiness. Those who are free from all sin enter heaven immediately. Purgatory is a place of purification, for those who die in a state of grace and friendship with God but who are not yet fully purified. Those in Purgatory are assured a place in heaven after their purification. We pray for those in Purgatory, that they may soon be with God in heaven. Hell is for those who have willingly chosen to reject God and his love. If we persist in a state of serious sin, we damn ourselves to eternal hell. At the end of time, our Lord will come again to judge both the living and the dead. All souls will be rejoined with their bodies, and those in Purgatory will be joined to the blessed in heaven. The Last Judgement will reveal that God’s justice triumphs over all the injustices committed by his creatures and that God’s love is stronger than death.

Oh wow, had you seen a figure when you woke?

I’m Skeptical about mediums but I’m very tempted

No I don't believe. My mum has seen lots of unusual things in her lifetime so she's a semi-believer but personally? No. Not until I see something I can't explain.
