Eyebrow Razor for upper lip

Bayleaf25 · 23/03/2023 19:11

Apologies if AIBU to ask this but need quick replies as DD (17) is going to use an Eyebrow/facial women’s small razor device on her upper lip this evening. Does anyone here use anything like this? It’s not like a man’s razor and she says several of her friends use them.

I’m urging her against it as have visions of her having to use it for the rest of her life. Growing back stubble or thicker hair. Ideally I’d rather she wait so that we can investigate best hair removal methods but she’s adamant this is fine.

Any thoughts? Does anyone else use these?

Is it a dermaplaning razor? If so it'll be fine I use one, yes it grows back but not any thicker or coarser and when it does you just do it again!

yorkshireteaparty · 23/03/2023 19:13

I use a Hollywood Browzer on my upper lip (my whole face actually 😳) and it's very effective for me.. no problems

Irisheyesareshining · 23/03/2023 19:18

I have used them and unfortunately had a stubble effect ! It would be a shame if that happened to her, I think threading is very effective but I am no expert! Laser didn’t work for me .

Bayleaf25 · 23/03/2023 19:19

Yes it’s like a dermaplaning razor/Hollywood browser. Maybe it’ll be fine then and it’s just old school me worrying about nothing. She doesn’t generally wear much makeup so worried it will look stubbly when growing back but sounds like it should be fine.

thanks so much for replying

yeah I do it all the time, all over my sideburns and chin too. Gets the fluff off. Kinda feels stubbly on the regrowth on my top lip but nowhere else. Doesn’t grow back thicker. That’s a myth.

This is good and cheap to buy too

My 17 year old uses it on her brows and upper lip.

bubbles2023 · 23/03/2023 19:23

I use Hollywood browser on my upper lip and it works really well. Hair hasn't grown back any thicker.

LindorDoubleChoc · 23/03/2023 19:25

I simply don't believe a single person who says shaving any part of their body doesn't cause stubbly regrowth. How can that be true? Are they not the same as the rest of us humans?

Covetthee · 23/03/2023 19:26

Its fine, i don’t get how in 2023 people still believe in the the myth that it grows back thicker.

it might look thicker/stubbly for the way the hair is cut but it doesn’t grow back thicker.

Depends on her hair type and growth.

Misosoup10 · 23/03/2023 19:29

It made my upper lip grow back in a stubble. I now thread. Whole face. It’s painful and I have to get it done every 2.5 -3 weeks as my regroth is bad but it doesn’t grow back stubbly

Bayleaf25 · 23/03/2023 19:29

Seems to be split opinions just to make it trickier.

Well - if it looks thicker and stubbly that's a problem isn't it?

TeaMistress · 23/03/2023 19:45

I wouldn't recommend using a razor for removal of facial hair. I use an epilator. You can get a coil epilator and the twisting motion pulls the hair out from the root or a really good Braun epilator specifically designed for facial hair. Very effective and regrowth is much slower and finer. Spearmint tea also reduces facial hair growth.

Badbudgeter · 23/03/2023 19:49

I epilate too. Weeks between sessions. I find
pulling the hair out makes the roots weaker so it’s easier. Or maybe pain threshold is increasing.

mynameiscalypso · 23/03/2023 19:59

I just shave mine. And when it starts to grow back (ie the next day), I just shave it again. It takes seconds. I've never got the whole angst about it growing back thicker or whatever. It's clearly not permanent so surely you just shave it again?!

LindorDoubleChoc · 23/03/2023 20:06

All fine if you are happy to shave your face every day. I think most women would prefer not to.

Bayleaf25 · 23/03/2023 20:08

Thanks for everyone’s comments, whether she’ll listen to me is a different issue. Really appreciate your responses.

I dermaplane my whole face every few weeks. It keeps my skin exfoliated and soft. The regrowth is the same as it was before I started. Although I never had full on thick hairs, just that soft almost peach fuzz texture.

HashBrownandBeans · 23/03/2023 20:19

I use these, have had more spots, but not more hair

WetBandits · 23/03/2023 20:27

I use an eyebrow razor once a week on my entire face. No fuzz and no stubble!

Well, having PCOS means I don't really have a choice. It literally takes 5 seconds and I do it in the shower in the same way that I shave my armpits every day in the shower.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 25/03/2023 03:57

I wouldn’t because it won’t grow back thicker but it will be stubbly. I find threading very effective.

Exactly, if it grew back thicker and darker then men going bald would just shave it off and grow a full head of glorious thick hair! 😂

Hesma · 25/03/2023 05:07

I use nair facial wax strips and they work well. May be worth suggesting as an alternative
