To feel so sick and anxious about this situation

Buying house from LL (currently renting) has been ongoing for a year, mortgage offer expired at the beginning of the week and can not extend (already extended once) don't have affordability for a new mortgage due to interest rates and TBF I've had enough of the process and have found somewhere else we can afford so pulled put today.

LL has emailed me to ask why we pulled out, I explained and now he says he has to pull out of his purchase and he will try everything to ensure the sale goes throuGh. I feel so anxious and worried now, I feel awful for him and awkward that we are in his home and have let him down.

AIBU to feel like this??

LL is a CF of the first magnitude! Totally his balls up and has massively put you at a financial disadvantage too, how dare he try to put the guilts on you? CF!

Did you let him know that the mortgage offer was running out? If not it has probably come as a surprise as he won’t have been keeping and eye on dates etc.
Having said that though, you are not wrong a year is a long time to wait and it sounds like you did everything right with your part. It’s now out of your hands as you no longer have the mortgage. Move into your new house instead, otherwise what’s to stop you having to wait another few months for this house
