What isn’t essential from this list?

I’ve had a request to only pack the essential things in my child’s nursery bag because they have said that there’s too much in there - I pack a set of spare clothes, nappies and wipes because not fully toilet trained, drinks for the day, hat and gloves if it’s cold and then their coat if they aren’t wearing it as they go in.

What can I actually remove from this bag that isn’t essential because I’m genuinely confused right now…

Nursery sounds bonkers! But to humour them maybe get a smaller bag and cram it all in there. 3 nappies, half a pack of wipes. Some thin legging and long sleeved T-shirt, socks, hat and gloves can be squeezed into one of those mini rucksacks. Drinks in the side pockets? Or handed separately straight to staff in a carrier bag? Coat on peg.

I'd go and have a chat with them. Our nursery (preschool) like coats hung on pegs so kids can easily put them on themselves. Draw string bag on peg with change of clothes.

Why do they care what's in the bag it's not like they're out and about carrying it. Confused

In our nursery all of these things are kept on site, each child has a little drawer with their peg for things like gloves and hat, they all have their own space to keep spare clothing and own nappies/wipes if needed for allergy reasons as well.

The only thing that would be brought from home each day is a drink, and they even changed that policy in covid just to change to using their own cups so they could whisk them away to be cleaned as soon as they were left unattended (to reduce the amount of children randomly drinking from one another's bottles).

Maybe it's just the coat making the bag too bulky? I wouldn't put the coat inside a bag if my child didn't want to wear it, I'd just carry it.
