and I just said what I was instructed to say - it isn't my fault if the things I was instructed to say were untrue, is it. I can't be expected to understand what is legal or illegal, it is too complicated. And anyway, I don't even think it matters.

The thing I don't get is this. If the repeated lying is not in dispute but the defense is that it was neither intentional nor reckless, what other options can there possibly be? He just can't help himself? Probably not far from the truth.

the question is OP, how rich are you?
if you are on a middle to low income or heaven forfend on benefits, then any lies should be punished to the full extent of the law
if you are extremely rich, relax, YANBU, especially if someone took photos
