What the fuck is wrong with me

I’m unsure if there’s something wrong with me or not.

I’ve been horrifically exhausted recently. It probably started roughly a few months ago and has been getting worse ever since. I used to be fine with 8 hours of sleep a night (I would feel a bit tired but not exhausted) but now I’m getting even more sleep than that and I permanently feel so so tired. My typical schedule now is to come home from work or uni and nap for at least 3 hours. Then I wake up and get ready and go to bed and sleep through. I cannot go a day without napping or sleeping or else I can barely keep my eyes open and I just feel so drained and tired

i don’t understand why I’m so tired recently. I’m not stressed or anxious or depressed. Im not sleep deprived or over-slept, I’m not dieting or eating badly, I’m not otherwise unwell and I recently had a full blood test which was fine. I’ve had some other bizarre symptoms but this is the worst. I permanently feel like I’ve been hit by a car and I’m so tired. I even got the train home from uni and was so exhausted from doing that and walking 10 minutes to the house from the station that I was falling asleep as I was barely in the door.

anyone else ever had this? I recently met up with my friends and was so tired I could barely stay awake over lunch. I slept on the train home then again when I got home then I woke up and went to bed for the night because I was so exhausted. I’m really struggling with this and I can’t explain why but I have a horrible feeling something isn’t right with my body but I don’t know what/why. It’s just a gut instinct

Yup hypothyroidism ticks all these boxes. Mine as coupled with pcos.
look it up it’ll feel like the light bulb going off in your head.

insist you get checked for both and ask for your t3 to checked in addition (it’s not routinely)

They checked my thyroid but it was all fine thankfully, I can’t remember the exact number unfortunately but it wasn’t even close to being low or abnormal etc. my doctor tested for everything that matched with the symptoms and thankfully it was all clear but unfortunately no answers means no way of fixing it x

Being cold all the time and extreme tiredness could be ME. Have you have Covid or glandular fever before? You can get antibody checks for both to see if it could be those.

pastabest · 19/03/2023 22:11

Has anyone considered Coeliac disease?

The skin issue could be dermatitis herpeformis which is linked to coeliac.

Tess227 · 19/03/2023 22:13

Hi
that does sound like hypothyroidism, mine started with bleeding, outside of menstual cycle & hair loss relating to the anaemia& los B12

MyDogStoodOnABee · 19/03/2023 22:15

Coeliac can have this effect

YourSpleenIsDamp · 19/03/2023 22:21

Is it definitely dermatitis? Just thinking that psoriasis looks similar - it's an autoimmune disease, so it can cause extreme fatigue and can mean you struggle to regulate your body temperature. Often doesn't show in blood tests - I have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, and often need a wheelchair, yet blood tests come back completely normal. I don't want to scare you - psoriasis doesn't mean you'll also get psoriatic arthritis! But it might be worth asking for a dermatology referral to make sure it definitely is dermatitis, my GP said my psoriasis was eczema for years and it only got diagnosed when I moved house and saw a different GP.

Boopydoo · 19/03/2023 22:22

Celiac Disease or a wheat allergy.
I have a diagnosed wheat allergy and the same skin condition, whenever I accidentally eat wheat I can sleep the clock round and my skin flares. The fatigue is awful and knocks me sideways for over a week at a time.

Itstillgoeson · 19/03/2023 22:26

B12?

Lockeddownagain · 19/03/2023 22:27

Get them to check your thyroid antibodies range not the thyroid function

oioimatey · 19/03/2023 22:29

My initial thoughts were vitamin D and low iron levels. Could the latter be a reason?

NewNovember · 19/03/2023 22:31

Definite fine re bloods results , what is your B12 and folate?

Daftasyoulike · 19/03/2023 18:22

Could it be ME? I felt like this when I suffered from it, I couldn't even push the vacuum around, and was frequently falling asleep. What are the other symptoms?

Could you share how long recovery took and what it looked like please? I have an adult daughter just being referred for ME. So glad you got through it!

Lockeddownagain · 19/03/2023 22:32

I was like this for ten years exact same symptoms you describe freezing weight gain sleeping all the time thyroid function fine. After 10years they did the thyroid antibody test so your body attacks its thyroid normal count 1-35 mine 632.
Go and ask for it

Lastofyou · 19/03/2023 22:32

Have you got carbon monoxide detectors in your house and are they working? When I was in my late teens I suffered from symptoms you describe - total and utter exhaustion. Would get home from school and sleep. Have some cereal for dinner and then sleep again but would find it hard to get up in the morning. I would fall asleep in lessons. Turns out we had a dodgy gas fire and I had carbon monoxide poisoning.

Dottyandbetty · 19/03/2023 22:32

Have you got a copy of your results and checked your ranges against the optimal ranges rather than just the normal ones. The U.K. ranges are often very broad leading to being advised that levels are ok despite being low enough to cause issues. I spent ages suffering from awful exhaustion etc and being told my folate levels were fine only to realise that they were actually at a point that often makes people feel awful. It’s worth asking the doctors to print out your results and having a good look at vit d, folate, iron, b12 etc against the optimal ranges likewise with your thyroid too.

billybear · 19/03/2023 22:33

did the doctor check your B12 levels/what abour carbon monoide SORRY CANT SPELL IT , you know what i mean/SAD the weather can effect your mood make you tired

sleepymcsleepface · 19/03/2023 22:35

I can’t remember the exact number off the top of my head for folate, B12, vit D, thyroid etc and I’ve lost the printed copy, but they were NOWHERE near low, I remember the Gp being surprised at how high some of them were. They weren’t on the low end of normal or anything like that. I’ll call the GP again tomorrow and ask for another print out but it’s definitely not low b12, folate, vit d or thyroid or anything like that x

Sounds like a hormone issue, I had similar symptoms when pregnant but you’re not pregnant. Could it be your body thinks it’s pregnant like maybe a fibroid in your uterus?

MultipleVeganPies · 19/03/2023 22:40

Long Covid?

did you have Covid 2 or 3 months ago? It can present as extreme tiredness/ME type symptoms

Cakeandcoffee93 · 19/03/2023 22:40

Pls pls check your fasting blood sugar level and non fasting- I had these symptoms and got type one diabetes diagnosis.

Namechanger355 · 19/03/2023 22:41

Honestly the only times I’ve felt like this were first trimester or when I was low on vitamin d (the latter was truly awful and quite easily resolved)!

justasmalltownmum · 19/03/2023 22:43

Low iron
Low vitamin d

Wife2b · 19/03/2023 22:47

ME/CFS?

swingthatsass · 19/03/2023 22:47

These posts end up so annoying because people continually suggest things without reading the OPs posts.

the OP has already said (several times) that it’s not low vitamin D. Or low thyroid hormones. Or low folate. Or low iron. But 72 posts in and people are still suggesting it could be that. Bloody hell, how many times does the OP need to say it isn’t that?

OP- it could be nothing but did you mention the night sweats to the doctor? That can be a symptom of many things, some of which are serious.

Zerrin13 · 19/03/2023 22:51

I was diagnosed with an over active thyroid and it took 3 blood tests before it showed up as abnormal
