To be sick of random men thinking they can just be twats to women?

I have name changed for this as I will probably rant about it to friends and on a FB group I'm on, too.

I just went into town and was being served at the till, and was chatting to the woman whilst she served me. She said the word 'shit' during our conversation then said 'oops sorry for swearing' and I said 'Oh don't worry, I work with all men so there's loads of swearing at my work', which is true; I do work with all men on my team and there is a lot of bad language, which I couldn't give a shit about and often join in with.

A random man walking past the til turned round and said to me 'You CAN'T say that'. I have had more than enough of 'ignoring' random mens' comments so I replied 'I can say that. I just did say that. I can say anything I want, thanks'. He was visibly shocked and annoyed that I'd dare to answer him back. I am certain he would not have said a thing if my 6ft 3 husband was with me at the time. I only ever get these comments when I'm on my own. I didn't even say anything bad, it's not like I said 'All men are bastards and rape women'

I also work with a couple of men (not on my team, luckily) who clearly do not like women, as they will go out of their way in meetings to argue against anything I say, and to 'prove me wrong', whilst if a male colleague says the same thing, even in the same meeting, they couldn't agree more and are falling over themselves to back said male up.

I just get so many seemingly minor incidences of men thinking they can just be twats to women and I'm sick of it!

I had an incident on Friday when I was out with the dogs. Saw a couple walking towards me on the beach and my dogs were pottering about. I called the two youngest ones back with the whistle, the older 2 are still pottering. Got the 2 younger on the lead. One of the older dogs, was near the couple and wiggles her bum in greeting as she passes the couple, the woman looks at the man and I just knew they were going to be weird. I shouted the dog back and she came and the man said you need to have better control over all these dogs! I replied that the dogs didn't approach them or do anything and came back when called. He said I'm sick of dog walkers and their dogs wherever we go so get your dogs to fuck. I was shocked and said don't you dare speak to me like that, like what he says, I replied you swore at me and he said you must have imagined it and walked off with the woman, who said fuck all. There's no way he would have approached me if my husband had been there. I walk that beach everyday and never seen them before so assuming they are tourists, we live in a tourist area. I'm still bloody angry and was shaking at the time with his actual venom with get your dogs to fuck spitting it out. I can see the point if my dogs were arseholes but they are good dogs. I was going to post on MN for a handhold as I know im mega sensitive lol but was scared I would be flamed because it involved dogs. My friend who is an inspector in the police was fizzing and said they get so much of this with men singling out lone women. I did pluck up the courage to say to the woman you must be so proud to be with a man who speaks to women like that and then gaslights them. Still waiting on a response. Xx

I say this having just last week had a random twat at a petrol station scream at me "move your car I'm in a F'ing rush you stupid bitch" while I was on the actual process of moving my car for him Confused

I think my engine would have stalled accidentally on purpose

I once worked with an amazing woman who had tried to have a baby for so long and in the end did so via IVF. Anyway, our male boss was an absolute Twat and a sexist prick. The week before she went on maternity leave we were all in a meeting and she asked a question about finances on a project. It was a valid and intelligent question but it was pointing out a mistake in the budget that our boss had made. This embarrassed him and he said " ooh someone's baby brain has already kicked in , just as well your off on maternity leave after this week" to which she geniously replied " well your small cock syndrome kicked in years ago but unlike you I've been too polite to mention it" . The whole meeting room erupted, we just couldn't help it. Boss went white , then red and stormed out mumbling something about working with delinquents. If he was ever a Twat in future we would just give him a knowing smirk having remembered the time our colleague said what we had always wanted to say.

I don’t normally experience anything like what you’ve described. Men where I live seem very pleasant on the whole and I work in a professional job where I feel my opinion is generally valued.

However I had the misfortune of walking past some extremely chavy football fans recently. They were absolutely vile, like a pack of disgusting leery horrid men. I was genuinely shocked…the language they used in front of my children was outrageous.

I feel sorry for their wives / partners and anyone that needs to work with people like them.

Men like that are the type who expect to 'hold court' and have you listen to their boring story for hours. They expect to be centred and so see nothing wrong with interrupting a conversation between two women. When their wives or partners are talking to them, they will think nothing of cutting them off and beginning to talk to a male friend who happens to wander by. This happened to me and I was livid!
