This beauty even comes with its own business, so you’re getting an absolute bargain!

I honesty don’t know why they didn’t think to clear it out before they took the photos.

I hope they’ve taken a metre reading.

Uhave2changethings · 06/03/2023 11:35

I also wonder why people don’t look at Zoopla… it is much cheaper to use as a letting agent so you’ll get smaller agents using it to advertise property

Wasn't there some concern over small fake estate agents set up by criminals who used Zoopla to advertise properties? They managed to get ownership and sell houses by stealth, the real owners were away and didn't realise what was going on. until it was too late. I don't think there are many checks.

From her Little Book of Racist Tropes.

Available in all good bookshops

Where's the racism? Often these farms are tended by young people who've been trafficked and a lot of them come from Vietnam. They're told they'll have a better life here and pay a fortune for a dangerous journey where they just end up in modern slavery at the end of it all. Sad? Yes, very. Racist? No.

SidewaysOtter · 06/03/2023 12:02

BarbaraofSeville · 06/03/2023 10:14

Seriously?

I can't believe the owner/agent would try and sell the property without informing the police and then you'd think that the evidence would have been removed?

I found out that a house on our street had been used as a cannabis farm when several police vans turned up and cleared it all out.

The police will clear out the drugs and anything else they need as evidence. The rest will be left for the owner of the property to deal with. Hence why they've probably gone "Fuck this, we'll just put it into auction as it is".

No, you’re wrong. Racism is prejudice which generalises about the characteristics of people from a specific race. The poster is highlighting that Vietnamese people are often trafficked into this country and abused.

This is the truth and if you had any knowledge of the situation or had worked in this space (I used to work for a charity tackling county lines and child exploitation) you’d recognise this isn’t racism, it’s awareness that young Vietnamese people are vulnerable to this exploitation, and that people in this country need to think as hard about the ethics of their drug taking as they do whether their coffee is sustainable.

You need to go away and look at what racism actually is.

Right, so the poster who assumed the race of the people working the farm isn't racist?

No, they're not. Because a lot of people who end up working in these places ARE Vietnamese. The trafficking is well known.

As someone upthread has tried to explain to you, racism is a form of discrimination. Stating the fact of "A lot of the people who are forced to work in cannabis farms are trafficked Vietnamese" is not discriminating Hmm

Getting the smell out would be tricky. I would also want to k ow that the police had been made aware of its previous use and change of use now to avoid any unwarranted door smashes!

I believe it was raided as part of an operation, it looks that way from the link I posted earlier which is where I assume the Daily Mail copied it form.

The video tour with soundtrack has had me weeping with laughter.

Nice clean and tidy bathroom and loo .Somehow I expected to see chaos .

MrsWojadobakowsky · 06/03/2023 10:36

I assumed it had been raided, hence leaving it as it was.
Maybe the owner is not able to deal with it due to being 'on holiday'.
Properties in Finchley are not the most expensive part of London, it's a bit run down looking generally, Finchley also has different areas, some better than others.

That's not true. Finchley Central is really expensive.

It's not as expensive as many other parts of London, it may be the expensive part of Finchley, but compared to Totteridge, St. Johns Wood, Hampstead, parts of Mill Hill, Marylebone, Chelsea, Knightsbridge etc. it's just normal.

CakeBush · 07/03/2023 22:32

This was originally posted on last week’s Popbitch newsletter. Also just up the road from me coincidentally.

“The arrests were the latest chapter in a wider operation targeting a high harm gang linked to firearms offences, city lines drug dealing and exploitation.“

Repeating your link as it states that arrests have been made . We view it on tv dramas and films but the people living there it was reality, shocks you and then you move on with people saying things like, it’s only a bit of weed :(

Oh look and other outraged progressive who completely misses the point that Vietnamese children are often trafficked for exactly this king of thing. You were probably trying to educate but PP but it makes you look not so bright.

Dudum · 08/03/2023 08:04

"That is unbelievable, has anyone reported it to the police I wonder?"

Ffs 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣

Riverlee · 08/03/2023 08:18

That’s a gem. The property hasn’t exactly been staged. You would have thought that they would have cleared the rooms at least.
