Me and my aunt just gone to pick the kids up in her car and there was no spaces in the school car park apart from disabled, aunt says oh ill park there in the disabled (she has a disabled badge )
I said no don't park there.
Why not ive got a disabled pass she says
yes but your not actually getting out of the car and we do actually have a few children who are disabled was my response she gave me a disgusting eye roll, Arghhh it infuriates me she think she's entitled to park where ever she damn well wants even though its no benefit to her

Do you need the disabled spaces?

Not really any of your business tbf it's not my thread

Come on @LadyKenya, which part of my post did you disbelieve? That:

I often see apparent BB needers who don't exit the car at the shop
.... there are LOTS of empty disabled parking spaces so it doesn't matter
... Where they park has no effect on me bec I cycle
... I find their irrational behaviour amusing
... or?

Well it is isn't it. As you are of the opinion they can be abused. So if you aren't even entitled to use BB spaces then it's literally fuck all to do with you

Most of your post to be honest. But the bit that made meHmm the most, was your rather descriptive sentences about the energy of the people who were exiting the car, or staying inside it. You sure are very observant.

You can post whatever you like. Where have I said you can't. Find it very weird though, as I mentioned. If you can't park in them anyway then it has fuck all to do with you. Maybe find a hobby? Or is this your hobby?

I don't comment on threads based on whether it has anything to do with me, hence I post what/when/where I like.

Cool. Carry on. Just don't park in disabled bays if you don't need them

Not sure that's a character defect. Yeah, MN threads have made me a lot more watching of who uses disabled spaces. I never noticed before I read all the controv on here.

Anyway, takes a while to lock up my bike, get pannier bag off, arrange helmet, ponder if my lights will get nicked, bring up the shopping list on phone, smile at the person in the blue badged car... then do it all in reverse (plus secure load if I have a bungey cord load) after I finish my shop, possibly with different blue badge holder sitting in car to smile at. Sometimes I'm studying if I know the car users because I live in an area where there's only 1.5 degrees separation, I may well know them....

One supermarket, it was possible to drive straight from the disabled space across pavement to get back to road (to avoid queueing at official exit). So sometimes I minded keeping my bike out of way of people doing that. There's a bollard now, they can't do it any more.

Yes it on the government website, which has been posted many times, and would have been in information when you applied for the badge too, it is your responsibility to know these rules as a badge holder.

Being I NEVER use Bb space UNLESS im getting out of the car....

Exactly I'm not against blue badges my mum had one and my dad only used it if mum was coming into the shop with him, if not he parked elsewhere, it's actually odd how many people on here have blue badges but don't understand the terms they are issued with.

FinallyHere · 25/02/2023 20:12

Disabled people are entitled to use disabled spaces.

Anyone who has read the guidelines that gone with a blue badge, will know that the badge f DF ones not entitle the holder to use a blue badge space if the blue badge holder does not get out of the car

A moments reflection will clarify why that's how it works.

The penalty for misuse of a blue badge, as you describe, is a £1000k
fine and confiscation if the badge.

Does your aunt realise what she is risking?
