Is the School Run really that stressful that people need a pint of Beer afterwards? Just read this extract from a book in a magazine...

For the Duke of Edinburgh, part of the trip was invariably spent listening to Charles’s anguished pleas to be transferred out of Gordonstoun—followed by Philip’s oft-repeated defense of the school and his rationale for sticking it out. As soon as he returned to London, Philip, pale and shaking, would down a pint of Boddingtons—the Duke’s favorite brand of beer—to calm his nerves.

Then when he was 17 they sent him to Timber Top , a school in Australia which he seems to have actually enjoyed. On his return , his mother greeted him with a handshake.

They are a deeply weird family. Although the institution is bonkers I can't judge the individual members. Because why would I be any different in their shoes ?

The Queen greeted Charles with a handshake when he was 5 years old and she had returned from a long trip overseas.

I stand corrected. Even worse then. But it was her upbringing too I suppose.

I actually remember the cherry brandy incident a previous poster referred to. Charles had a snifter in a pub and some sod grassed him up ! How low can you go.
