To think it is time to extend Sunday opening hours?

It really is time for the restrictive Sunday trading hours to be lifted. The archaic laws have not kept up with modern society.

Sunday may traditionally have been a family day but there have been a lot of changes since then. People are in increasingly different family set ups. The working hours have changed for a lot of people and being able to shop on a Sunday morning would improve things greatly. It would help trade for businesses too.

Sunday is now a major shopping day and the hours need to reflect this.

@Teamountain my first post, the one with the link. You come across as being in a foul mood, complete overreaction.

😂😂😂😂😂

Im not sure why Amazon filled the gap. You only had to wait 45 mins for the shops to open. @Plumbear2

...but the op would have been standing there for 45min with nothing else to do, as they'd already had breakfast.

Nasty.

I am sure you never ordered anything from Amazon right?

Oh the horror. This is what I mean about this generation. So many people who want everything right now. Surely waiting 45 minutes or going out later in the days beats waiting for a parcel to arrive in the next few days.

Legomania · 21/02/2023 13:50

Which generation?

If I need eg lightbulbs and I'm planning to go into town I will shop in person rather than doing an Amazon order. However with two youngish kids and a full-time job my free time is short and I'm not going to waste any of my weekend trekking back to a shop if it's shut when I pass it.

I have ordered something from Amazon in the afternoon and had it the next morning - so I didn't have to wait for the parcel for a few days and yes it easily beat going out especially when I had covid.

But sure you go ahead and wait.

But we are not talking about COVID. We are talking about someone waiting 45 mins for a shop to open when they are already out.

Legomania · 21/02/2023 14:12

Why would you waste 45mins just standing there?

Can you not see that someone might not be able to wait 45 mins while they are already out? They may have children to collect, appointments or need to get back to work. Not everyone has endless free time to be hanging on in a case a shop reopens 45 minutes later.

I could have already ordered from Amazon and have it the next day. That is better than hanging about for 45 minutes.
