to tell you I am going to park run this morning...

Nimbostratus100 · 18/02/2023 07:03

well, if I tell you, I cant really back out so easily, can I

backache, headache, nausea, aching limbs, blurred vision .....

but my consultant is adamant that exercise is beneficial, and park run, on the Saturdays that I am physically capable of getting out of bed, is the best possible thing to do

And I know I will feel better for it! I just cant be bothered to get up and get ready.

So am informing you, that this is happening, so it is happening.

I am going to aim to run at least half of it. I ran it all last time, two weeks ago, but am feeling a lot worse since then. Still, last Saturday I couldn't physically get out of bed, so at least I am better than then.

Im going! The only thing that can stop me is if I cant get a lift, as I dont think I could get myself there, or get myself back, if I felt worse unexpectedly

Anyone else really struggling to get started this morning?

Being permanently blind is not the same as having blurred vision through illness which is normally caused by hypotension or blood pressure changes.

FettleOfKish · 18/02/2023 08:12

Ps.. well done OP! I'm going too today, first time in weeks. It's about the finish line, not the finish time. Take it steady and remember you're going twice as fast as the person that's still in bed!

LaLoba · 18/02/2023 08:13

You are definitely not being unreasonable! I’m not park running, but about to set off with my dog for a run.
I have MS - my experience is that helps with the daily grind in a way nothing else can(I tend to need a nap afterwards but being fit helps with the fatigue that multiple physical issues bring day to day). The biggest obstacle is motivation when you’re knackered! I’ll be cheering you on inside as I plod along today.

Bellevu · 18/02/2023 08:15

Well today's plan was to lie in bed scrolling mumsnet all morning. I'm heading out to walk parkrun.

Not sure whether to thank op or send mutters your way!Grin

WorryMcGee · 18/02/2023 08:15

Yay @Nimbostratus100 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I love a parkrun so clicked on this and was thrilled to see you were the OP! I’m going to get myself there too, only my fingers hurt today and you don’t need those for parkrun 😂 good luck!

FettleOfKish · 18/02/2023 08:18

@Sadlifter I was simply answering the question 'how can you run with blurred vision'.

I trust that the OP and her consultant know her health limitations a shade better than we do.

LaLoba · 18/02/2023 08:18

Oh and I’m having an optic neuritis flare up right now, so vision is blurry round the edges - no problem running, wouldn’t drive though.

toptail22 · 18/02/2023 08:20

A run will ALWAYS make you feel better.

OP is not driving. She is getting a lift.

I’m walking parkrun today OP. I ran 3k a fortnight ago and I didn’t think I would make it home alive 😂
You could always consider Jeffing another time if you do want to run more.

OP is not driving. She is getting a lift.

I was aiming my comment at the naysayers who don’t believe people with physical issues can run, the driving comment was to emphasise that my eyes are pretty blurry at the moment. Not meant as a dig to the OP, sorry, should have been clearer.

maxybrown · 18/02/2023 08:26

Good luck! You can do this. Walk it run it jog it, do a bit of it all!

I have a few autoimmune conditions so understand where op is coming from. Some days I struggle to get out of bed. Other days I can run a parkrun in 30 minutes. Run the whole thing. But then I can be floored for the whole weekend. But yes, it does help me! Just sometimes I pay for it too. My specialist said yes I just do it but be mindful of my body too. I've lost over 4 stone and that has also also helped but some times it's like being hit with a sledgehammer and trying to get yourself doing anything is really hard work!

I'm resting this weekend so that I can run with my friend on Monday.

Well done op!

SouthCountryGirl · 18/02/2023 07:55

How are you going to run safely with blurred vision?

I get trounced each week at parkrun by a blind woman. She uses a stick. Bit of blurred vision doesn't stop you running 😂

Howmanysleepsnow · 18/02/2023 08:31

Good luck @Nimbostratus100 !

CalmConfident · 18/02/2023 08:37

I am going too! Currently in bed mumsnettinf…I better get moving 😂

enjoy everyone!

grafittiartist · 18/02/2023 08:38

Enjoy!
I am jealous as can't make it this morning. It's usually the perfect start to the weekend!

Dontjudgeme101 · 18/02/2023 08:51

Not at all, what I wrote first was misleading. Thanks!

HedwigIsMyDemon · 18/02/2023 09:27

@LaLoba i don’t think people with physical issues can’t run! But it can be an issue for people with certain fatigue related issues to just jump out of bed and run 5k! I have friends with ME and this would be very dangerous.

All power to OP’s elbow - park run is awesome!

Bagzzz · 18/02/2023 09:34

I can’t do park run but do plan going to the gym having read thanksOP
