'Nicola Bulley's reputation 'destroyed' by police'

Article here

The points made about victim blaming and the police disclosing this information to cover themselves are spot on imo.

The usual gutter press are having a field day with this today.

What exactly was the point of it? What's it achieved, apart from compounding the heartache of her loved ones?

YABU - the police were right to divulge this sensitive information as it was relevant to the investigation

YANBU - there was absolutely no need to do so

The Police are awful. I honestly hope to never have to deal them in my life. I haven’t so far. Fingers crossed.

Bippetyboppityboob · 20/02/2023 18:05

Seems like the police did a great job to be honest, the media however...

How are the police awful? They did everything they could to find Nicola, why is that not enough?

Glad she has been found. Sad she has been found deceased.

R.I.P. Nicola Bulley. ❤

I hope and pray now that these ghastly, macabre threads will cease. Let the poor woman rest in peace.

Are you an underwater search expert? How do you know the body would have been found earlier if she went in of her own accord?

it’s not easy to find submerged bodies. Even in still waters like canals it can take days.

why is the dogs behaviour odd? Do you expect it to have jumped in after her?

💯👍 Well said @Alexandra2001

Just read a psychic was the person who found Nicola. Article in the daily mail. He had to say this because of the speculation about him. That is pretty incredible. But maybe some folk do have esps that ordinary folk don't have. It does make you wonder. At least the family have closure now. Very sad.

Now isn’t the time for this. Stop being an armchair detective and get on with your life. The police and post Mortem will find out what happened to her.

I reported her post and MN deleted, i urge others who see this sort of dangerous nonsense to do similar if you feel similar to me.

MySugarBabyLove · 20/02/2023 19:37

The only thing it makes me wonder is why people read and believe such shite.

What an attention seeking knob.

MySugarBabyLove · 20/02/2023 19:41

Interesting that no-one has mentioned the family statement in which they ripped the media and the public to shreds.

Apparently even though they asked for privacy ITV and sky news contacted them for comment last night. And then ITV gave peter falding another fucking platform this morning.

The only support the police thanked people for was the support they received in private.

And meanwhile I see the wannabe detectives are still out there spewing their bile.

How about giving this a rest and and end to these shitty threads?

Oh dear, now the weirdoes will crawl out of the woodwork and discuss the 'psychic'.

Psychic finds missing person in the area missing goes missing? Yeah incredible that is.

Diverging · 20/02/2023 20:31

I think he genuinely believes he is a psychic medium.

He looks like a L or XL to me.

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/02/2023 20:38

RIP Nicola.

I think MNHQ should close all these threads now and not allow any more to be started. Surely there is nothing left to say?

pigsinoodies · 20/02/2023 20:40

But to be serious...

I think the police have handled this admirably, apart from the obvious too-much disclosure of personal details, and I can sort of understand that under the circumstances.

The (social) media reaction to this, following the comments of the 'expert', are quite unprecedented for such a (excuse me, but this is what it is) minor case. If every missing person case was treated like this we'd need a far larger police force and far larger council tax bills.

There was no way the Lancashire police could have anticipated what's happened and behaved proactively rather than reactively.

Mirabai · 20/02/2023 20:46

Well you’re in a minority - hence the plethora of criticism from all quarters.

Untitledsquatboulder · 20/02/2023 21:13

Actually no I don't think do, most of the criticism out there is for the media and the Twitterati.
