To ask what three dots might mean in this context?! (lighthearted)

My incredibly good looking neighbour helped me restart my car today and also gave some kind advice when he heard about my terrible day. He was so sweet and the first time I’ve kind words in a long time. So I know I’m overthinking and projecting by fancying him even more! I texted him a thank you and replied “Any time...
Take care”. What could those three dots after anytime possibly mean? I thought three dots meant words have been left out, so what more might he be hinting at?! Anyone who suggests he just accidentally hit the full stop three times will be ignored 😁

have You had much text communication before? I know a man who uses it purely as punctuation, no real meaning. So I’d wonder if it’s his usual writing style first.

GoodChat · 15/02/2023 20:43

I'd take it as a cheeky 'don't get in that pickle again'

barelyfunctional · 15/02/2023 20:44

Some people just use … as punctuation

Margot78 · 15/02/2023 20:45

What just to torment peri menopausal women looking for hidden meaning?!

It means he loves you…

anon666 · 15/02/2023 20:47

If it had just been "Any time..." I feel that would have been something.

Followed by "Take care" on the other hand, it feels like a closure.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/02/2023 20:47

I use those all the time.

However, even I might have been vaguely flirting in that context.

Is he single? Do you need anything fixing in the house, on a Friday night, when you've just happened to open a bottle of wine...

See, all the time.

BillyMack · 15/02/2023 20:49

It means turn up at his door at 9:08pm in just a bath robe, carrying a super soaker in one hand and a tin of peaches in syrup in the other.

desperadodogface · 15/02/2023 20:49

My FIL puts ... on the end of every message. Don't think he means anything by it except he dsnt understand how it should be used 🤷‍♀️

RedRobin100 · 15/02/2023 20:49

I seem to have developed a habit of using … at the end of sentences, no idea why…

As such, I would be slow to automatically attitude more meaning to it.

Was he flirty in person today? Or any other day?

Yes I agree.

Although I would need a winky face after the ellipse to feel I had been fully flirted with.

I’m envisaging some sort of hoop-La activity

thegreylady · 15/02/2023 21:10

It’s an elipsis, it is a valid punctuation mark . In this case it sort of extends the meaning for emphasis

Choconut · 15/02/2023 21:11

I think you should turn into Julia from Motherland and behave like she did over Garry the builder.

With two R’s, it’s different makes it sound softer. I’ve got Garry’s glove here…

YukoandHiro · 15/02/2023 21:20

I use it as punctuation when I don't want it to seem like a severe or abrupt ending...

Sage396 · 15/02/2023 21:20

Someone I work with always ends sentences like that. Took me a while to realise he didn't mean anything by it haha.

Ooo La La! Wink wink nudge nudge….

SalviaOfficinalis · 15/02/2023 21:22

He probably didn’t want to put an x

But “anytime.” Is a bit abrupt…
