To wait for my cheek filler to dissolve

Absobloody · 10/02/2023 08:49

I got cheek filler 2 weeks ago. I am a very slim person and my face looked a little skeletal.. Well now it looks skeletal with 2 protruding lines along on my cheek bones.
I went back to see the Dr who did it (she's fully accredited with the BCAM) and she said hmmm yes, you need more filler in the apples of your cheeks this time.
I so don't want more I don't even like how it feels under the skin, let alone the worry of getting a giant face.
I've read awful things about the enzyme that supposedly removes filler - ie it destroys lots of the other facial components and leaves way way more saggy skin.
Wibu to just hope this will go away in a few months' time? I know the rhetoric that you need it topped up every 6 months to a year, but can anyone corroborate from personal experience or expertise?

By the way you don’t look awful at all you look quite good and you certainly don’t look like Maleficent.

I think what the nurse was saying about lower cheek filler to balance out the higher does actually make sense and you would look very pretty and a little less sunken (not that it’s bad at all)

Triflenot · 11/02/2023 11:03

That looks fine to me

ThreeLittleDots · 11/02/2023 11:03

Your face looks fine to me. I'd not want any more filled underneath

Butwhytho · 11/02/2023 11:08

I know nothing about fillers and the procedures around them so I can offer nothing on that front but just wanted to say you absolutely do not look ‘skeletal’, you’re being very hard on yourself. I actually think you look fine in your photo, certainly nothing like maleficent! I’d give it a couple of weeks to adjust and get used to, then make my move from there, I wouldn’t want to rush into any decisions.

Shewhois21 · 11/02/2023 11:10

I think you look lovely and I see a lot of horrible facial fillers /Botox in my line of work (dentist but not interested in doing Botox/fillers for what it's worth).

So they didn't even give you the sticker of what they injected in case of allergic reaction? This is a big reg flag, very unprofessional and dangerous.

As consolation, it's still early days, lump will settle down and result might be more subtle. I'd give it 2 more weeks and then see if you like it. Fillers don't dissolve on their own quickly, so if you're unhappy, they should dissolve it with injection.

They don’t need to give the exact details to the patient provided they keep accurate clinical records. If someone had an allergic reaction the immediate treatment is the same regardless of the allergen. They could then contact the clinic to find out exactly what it was.

It is not “a big red flag, very unprofessional and dangerous”.

When you have a vaccination do they give you the sticker off the vaccine so you know exactly what vaccine and batch you’ve had? No, it goes in the records.

Maybe my view of normal is skewed by the fact every woman on TV seems to have had extensive work these days or it could be the photo angle but that looks OK to me?

I mean there are noticeable cheekbones but isn’t that the point?

Absobloody · 11/02/2023 11:21

Thanks for the comments
Obv that's my 'good side' I'm noy brave enough to post the other profile

The point was to look exactly like me but "really well" - ie replace lost fat.
Didn't really want supermodel cheekbones but it does look like that's what I was going for

OP hard to know how bad it looks to you as can’t compare with before but agree with others - looks absolutely fine & you look great! From someone who doesn’t know you they don’t look filled at all.

I’d wait & don’t do anything rash.

What concerns me with the whole thing in general is that altering one area is going to change the way you face looks in relation to others.
I’d want a Dr to tell me before - if we do x, this will need y.

Obvs easy to say in an ideal world & I’m too chicken to do it.

If you did find someone you trust to advise you what would be best ie more elsewhere or not it might be worth it because it may give you results that work better together rather than in isolation.

But if you stick with it as it is you look absolutely fine & there’s no obvious need to IMO.

SiennaSienna · 11/02/2023 11:23

Oh you look lovely. My consultant dermatologist who did mine emphasized multiple times that the results will initially seem harsh to you for a couple of weeks but by week 4 things will settle and you will love the results. There was a free follow up at 4 weeks where he would have tweaked any areas that needed it (also free) but it was fine. Give it a few more weeks before any decisions. And yes the lumps do soften and go down. I also have a slim face.

Tereo · 11/02/2023 11:35

Don't know the old you but you look beautiful and natural in that photo

Wimbz20 · 11/02/2023 11:38

I have experienced this. Gently massage it and leave it alone. It will settle in a few weeks x

I wouldn't get it dissolved, as you said it destroys your natural collagen.

Just be patient, you will probably love it in a few weeks !

BrightRaven · 11/02/2023 11:41

Hello @Absobloody . I've had cheek filler dissolved. The enzyme is hyaluronidase and it didn't destroy other facial components or leave me with saggy skin. It doesn't suddenly deflate your face like a balloon - it works more gently and subtly than that. I had my cheek filler dissolved after a bad allergic reaction and my face was fine afterwards.
I think you look fine from your photos. As others have said, it could just be because you look different to you and it will settle down. But if you aren't happy, then the dissolvant should not cause you any issues.

Safeworkspace · 11/02/2023 11:43

You look completely fine, I'd suggest working on your self esteem before deciding anything. You look like a totally normal woman who would not look out of place anywhere. Just learn to love yourself!

Pinkdelight3 · 11/02/2023 11:50

Was about to say the same as @Safeworkspace - it's all in your head so spend the money working on that if anything. Nothing wrong with your looks at all and it's sad that the world has made you feel there is and that these services can exploit it. I hope you can do something about it and start feeling better about yourself soon. One day you'll look back at your photos - 'good' and 'bad' sides - and see how beautiful you are.

Scaredofmynipple · 11/02/2023 11:58

It looks fine to me. But any new change will be more obvious to you. As we scrutinise ourselves more closely and harshly than others most of the time.

CaravaggiosCat · 11/02/2023 11:58

Sorry but my first thought was you're an attractive woman, I'm struggling to see the cheek bone issue. I think it's because your face looks different. It's like getting a new hairstyle, it may take a little while to get used to but once you do you're glad you did it 😊.

Claricestarling1 · 11/02/2023 13:21

I looked really similar for about 4-5 weeks after I had mine done and I’ve got quite a chubby face (annoyingly!). Your cheekbones look lovely and they will soften a lot, just give it time ☺️ It does feel extreme afterwards but stick with it and it’ll settle..I’ve found with any fillers I’ve had you have to be patient and go through “the process” 😊

BMW6 · 11/02/2023 13:32

You don't look odd OP. Don't have any more though!

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 11/02/2023 14:18

Imo your cheek filler looks good. I think you’re seeing what others aren’t. You just aren’t used to looking slightly different but it looks to me as if it’s been well done. Speaking as someone who has subtle cheek fillers and loves the effect.
