Looking for inspiration for little things you do or have changed which make you feel good / healthy / happy?

Pilates and yoga every week. A walk, bike ride or gardening every day. Book Club which makes me read more. Music on Alexa when I'm cooking (I had got out of the habit of listening to music altogether) which cheers me up.

Interdentals with the gum disease gel every night. My gums are so much better.

Audio book or mediation at bed.

In bed by 10pm latest every week night.

Swimming with my friend a few times a week.

Linking my third morning alarm eith my spotify - and I don't know how but it plays a different song each day.

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 08/02/2023 18:57

Bikram almost daily. Online now though to save pennies (not the same as heated studio but still feel the benefits).
Walk, run up stairs.
Read every night before sleeping.
Finish work once I've done the school pick up (90%).
Also use interdental brushes too.
Use the garden office to have separation from the house and enjoy a bit of nature.

I swim Monday to Friday and only drink alcohol in moderation and at weekends.
My sleep habits however leave a lot to be desired.

ladymacbeth · 08/02/2023 19:12

Mine is not pointing out which of these habits have no robust research that demonstrate any physiological benefits 😇

BunsenBurnerBaby · 08/02/2023 19:24

Sleeping. In bed by 10 at the latest. I love my sleep.

things I do to make sleep better:

  • don’t eat after 7pm
  • no caffeine after 10 am
  • lift weights / run / walk every day
  • no alcohol
  • read fiction from an actual book in the evening
  • meditate
  • journal (when I can be arsed / am anxious)
  • dark cold room (and my own bedroom - bliss)

I think you'd enjoy this podcast. It's the minutes an episode and each one tells you about something very simple you can do to be healthier.

Cook from scratch using good quality ingredients & aim for 3 well-balanced meals 4-5 hours apart each day.

NeelyOHara1 · 08/02/2023 20:00

Doing YouTube exercise videos that only require walking on the spot and a few other moves from eg. Leslie Sansome, Pahla B, Fitness, Lively Ladies, Walks for Life and Schellea Fowler. They are aimed at over 50's and peri/menopause women though..

RenoDakota · 08/02/2023 20:04

Number one: taking Vitamin D.
Also, effervescent Vitamin C - the fizz gives me a real buzz.
Doing Couch to 5K, planning to move to just regular running 3 or 4 times a week.
10,000 steps a day where possible.
Allowing myself to loaf about and do nothing without feeling guilty.
Same with eating chocolate every day.

RenoDakota · 08/02/2023 20:05

I mean ... not saying eating chocolate is healthy, haha. But my attitude towards it is.

DottieUncBab · 08/02/2023 20:09

Gym class 3x a week

MaraScottie · 08/02/2023 20:10

What's rheal?

MeghanThyStallion · 08/02/2023 20:17

I drink water day-to-day, including when I'm eating out. I only drink something else Vero occasionally.

I run three times a week. I only started that in October but it feels like a habit now.

user1464279374 · 08/02/2023 20:18

Love this thread. Mine are:

Vitamin D and Iron tablets (latter on prescription)
Walking every day at lunchtime and again in afternoon if wfh
Only eating fresh fruit at breakfast (stomach ache otherwise but feels good in AM!)
A daily homemade cocoa based hot chocolate (don't drink tea/coffee)
Yoga every morning before school run
Short runs twice a week - I get bored if they are long, but 10 mins getting my heart rate up works for me.
Keeping a watch/read list for film/tv/books. So no more aimless scrolling, I just go to the list and pick (mostly!!!)

WinterFoxes · 08/02/2023 20:19

Going to bootcamp 3 times a week
Doing 20-30 squats every time I clean my teeth (twice a day at least)
Proper facial cleanse and moisturise every single night
Eating 5 -10 a day every day
Walking in the countryside for at least a hour a couple of times a week.

I have many unhealthy habits but these are my good ones.
