Looking for inspiration for little things you do or have changed which make you feel good / healthy / happy?

I like eating whole raw carrots. I run most days of the week. Don't really like processed food but do have a sweet tooth.

whirlyhead · 08/02/2023 16:25

Meditate every day, also keep a gratitude journal. 5 - 6 sessions of reformer pilates a week plus tennis. Walk everywhere, don't drink much, loads of water and don't eat meat. Go to bed early (by 9) and read a book before going to sleep.

I still love a bowl full of cheese wotsits though.

postwarbulge · 08/02/2023 16:33

Cycling and eating apples

Flamingogirl08 · 08/02/2023 17:10

Lunchtime walk every work day

RealBecca · 08/02/2023 17:12

I'm slimming down all my "stuff" to bare essentials but making those essentials luxury items.

I now have a posh conditioner, a posh heat protection spray and a posh bubble bath.

I love having less stuff but stuff that is fancy and so I no longer save things for best and just use things I love.

It makes me feel so good. Not just the products themselves but knowing that I'm not choosing to use the item I dont want to use when its sat next to the item I do want to use and therefore perversely telling myself I'm not worth the best each time. Self worth rocks!

catlovingdoctor · 08/02/2023 17:17

Flossing every single night !

Spanielsarepainless · 08/02/2023 17:20

Walking for at least an hour a day. Blood pressure same as it was thirty years ago!
Also, I have a pint of tepid water while I am waiting for the kettle to boil for early morning tea and my skin is much clearer.

SlurpSlooChortle · 08/02/2023 17:29

What a lovely idea for a thread OP. Watching with interest.

Journaling and meditating every day. Forming the habit is the hardest part but once you’ve got it, game changer.

Why though? Is it not just another job?

TheWayTheLightFalls · 08/02/2023 17:31

Getting up to move around / stretch / pace frequently(I have ants in my pants).

I rarely drink alcohol, just don’t have a taste for it.

Galarunner · 08/02/2023 17:33

Cycling to work. It's only 6 miles a day but it all makes a difference. Owning a border collie, a decent walk or run each day isn't optional !

Physical health: intermittent fasting has made me feel so much better

Mental health: I always read before bed, it helps my sleep and again makes me feel much happier

AnxieTeapot · 08/02/2023 17:38

Intermittent fasting has been a game changer. Feels like a complete reset.

BlueBlueBlueWinter · 08/02/2023 17:39

I’ve decided to pull my socks up this year, after years of smoking and drinking too much.

  • quit smoking (obviously not applicable to everyone)
  • don’t drink during the week, and not much on the weekends
  • meditate every morning
  • collagen and Rheal every morning
  • face masks every few days
  • workout 4-5 days a week
  • walk 10-12k steps a day
  • avoid processed foods (as much as possible anyway)
  • drink 2l water everyday

It’s been a big change for me, but now I’m in the swing of it, it’s (almost) easy.

LuciferRising · 08/02/2023 17:44

Meditating

Eating lots of minimally processed plant based foods.

Kefir and kombusha. Given me a flat stomach.

NotACodfish · 08/02/2023 17:46

Fresh fruit and veggie smoothies for breakfast.
Walking on the treadmill several days a week for an hour if possible.

CookieDoughKid · 08/02/2023 17:57

Ok mine is intense but it helps my mental health.

Piano practice everyday.
A form of exercise 5 to 6 days a week ...could be Bootcamp/zumba/3km run/pump/crossfit
A tidy house first thing in the morning If not most definitely a tidy kitchen
all meals cooked from scratch
Protein, nuts, dried fruit, coconut water every day
A pudding or chocolate every day
YoutubeMusic or movie every other day
Dinner at the dining table With kids
Work where I can get through the day and shut the laptop and leave it there..but not always possible.
Hair and scalp serum, Spf50, Hyrolonic Acid, Vit C serum Retinoic Acid every day
Once a week, get rid of something I.e. eBay sale, charity shop run, skip run....

Phew!!

WashAsDelicates · 08/02/2023 17:59

Forgiving myself. I spent years being my own harshest critic. It didn't improve me. I crumbled. Now when I go wrong I forgive myself and look ahead to how I will deal with the mistake or how I will start again tomorrow. Vast improvement in my mental health, self-image, confidence and overall happiness.

Bluevelvetsofa · 08/02/2023 18:04

I miss my exercise classes, but I can’t afford them now. Online stuff just isn’t the same, mostly because I enjoyed the social side.

I drink more water, eat fewer amounts of cake, biscuits etc, try to get out for a walk and enjoy reading and crafting.

InDubiousBattle · 08/02/2023 18:06

Running. Well jogging if I'm being honest. It makes me feel healthy but I still bloddy hate doing it!

philautia · 08/02/2023 18:10

I don't drink alcohol.
I walk everywhere.
I really, really love who I am (this is the most important - other good habits fall into place, I don't beat myself up for daft mistakes and I never put up with crap from anyone).

mac1974 · 08/02/2023 18:15

Those who do intermittent fasting, which version do you follow?
My current good habits are running/gym class every 2 days (anymore and I would resent it)
Good skincare routine

Proudofitbabe · 08/02/2023 18:16

I don't do anything remarkable unfortunately but my little easy wins are:

I always run up/down all stairs
I always walk fast
I rarely drink alcohol
I stop eating when full, no matter how yummy or how much is left

It's not much but hopefully every little helps!

GoodbyeMrChips · 08/02/2023 18:17

I’ve really transformed my habits over the past few years and I feel SO much better. Three years ago, I was obese, rarely exercised and drank way too much wine.

Good habits now:
intermittent fasting. No bread. Lowish carb. Lots of veg.
Maybe one glass fizz a month.
No caffeine after 2pm.
Weight training
Pilates

I still don’t walk enough; sedentary job and workaholics. I do walk at weekends.
No skin care routine, very scruffy and swap between pyjamas and joggers.
Still eat too much crap milk chocolate.

I can’t be expected to be perfect!

I used to do 18:6 but now I don't bother with strict timings, I just don't eat after dinner until lunch next day, whenever those meals might be.
