Went out of date on 1st Feb.
Mis-read it when I bought it last week.

If it smells OK, yes.

DaveyJonesLocker · 06/02/2023 17:07

No I wouldn't. I don't think it looks easy to spot if it's bad

LynneBenfield · 06/02/2023 17:09

Yes, provided smells and looks fine once cooked and is piping hot.

That's my concern.

Not with a 5 day old use by date. I wouldn't risk it

alrightnowthen · 06/02/2023 17:14

No way

VeronicaBeccabunga · 06/02/2023 17:15

Nope

BrutusMcDogface · 06/02/2023 17:15

No, I wouldn’t. I would if it was a day over, maybe two as it isn’t meat, but not 5/6 days over.

torquewench · 06/02/2023 17:16

I wouldn't have eaten it when it was in date, tbh 🤣

Flavabobble · 06/02/2023 17:16

As it's free of meat I'd just give it the sight and smell test.

CaraVann · 06/02/2023 17:17

My husband would but then he has guts made from cast iron, I have IBS so wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole!

RealBecca · 06/02/2023 17:17

Yes. No meat in in and the film isnt expanded.

RobertsRadio · 06/02/2023 17:18

As long as it's been kept in the fridge, yes I would.

Sugarfree23 · 06/02/2023 17:18

1 maybe 2 days with a use by yes - not 5. That's beyond pushing it.

As someone else said you can't really tell if it's gone off.

😂😂

I wouldn't eat it, 3 days past it's date is about the limit with me and that's my only reason!

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 06/02/2023 17:19

Nah. That won't taste as good as it should at all. Probably won't make you ill though

yukkamumma · 06/02/2023 17:22

There's veg in my fridge a month past the sell by and I'd happily eat it if still looking ok. My concern would be of the crumb was loudly but if nothing visible and it smells ok I'd eat it

yukkamumma · 06/02/2023 17:22

Moldy not loudly

JudgeRinderonTinder · 06/02/2023 17:22

No, beans and pulses can be really dangerous if they are off

forfuckssake23 · 06/02/2023 17:23

Oh dear god no. 1-2 days past use by, maybe. Not a full week 😲

lowclouds · 06/02/2023 17:29

No. I'd let slide a day or two if it seemed OK, but not five.

It's not only meat and dairy that will make you ill - beans and pulses can be bad too.

Also, sometimes bacteria is growing before it actually smells 'off'.

Fresh veg is different to a ready meal though. This has been cooked and prepared already, it's much more likely to be harbouring bacteria than a raw carrot.

Ponoka7 · 06/02/2023 17:32

Is it worth a day on the toilet/missed work etc? I'd rather have a sprained wrist than upset stomach. It's such a waste of a day.

MontyDonsBlueScarf · 06/02/2023 17:41

Depends on whether the pack has expanded - if it pops when you stab it then definitely not. However from the picture it looks as if it hasn't, so I'd eat it as long as it was thoroughly heated through.

Jomummy1013 · 06/02/2023 17:42

Not for me. I would be too worried. X
