Help changing career to programmer

Sorry this is in AIBU! Was hoping for some guidance for those of you already in tech.

So currently I am a computer science teacher but would like to get into tech industry.

I can program in python well and have experience of MySQL and some other programming languages.

I would like advice on how to get into the industry. I feel I already have some good experience but not sure how to get a job without the experience of working as a developer.

I know there have been a few threads in the passed that have had very helpful info on, but would appreciate advice on getting into tech but not as a beginner.

What type of jobs can I go for? Should I always go for junior?

Is there any recruiters that specialise in tech jobs that I can give my CV to?

Is anyone aware of companies that want to hire women etc!

Oh, also I live somewhere that is commutable to London

Thanks all!

What's your degree in?

Have you got an example of a project you did at home that you could show to interviewers?

Might be an idea to look at remote/part time masters in software development, particularly from establishments which at least offer work placements for some of their computer science degrees (not necessarily the masters; the idea being that they will have regular contact with the real world!).

You could then go in via the graduate entry schemes. You say you're near London - anything relating to finance in some way can offer attractive terms and as a teacher you're used to hard work.

My degree is in computer science.

Yes I do have some projects I can show. Just thinking about how to get to interview stage!

Like I have the skills, just not the experience of working as a programmer!

What do you see as the blockers when it comes to applying for jobs for CS grads, given you are one?
