To ask if this is the done thing?

Cooking up chicken goujons and placing them in a freezer bag. Then collecting teenage daughter from school, going on the bus and then eating said goujons on the way home.
Lighthearted thread but saw this exact thing the other day and wondered if other parents did it.

So bringing a snack essentially?

TomatoSandwiches · 05/02/2023 13:17

Eating when you are hungry.... yes, I'd say that's the done thing in general.

tangerinetreesandmarmaladeskies · 05/02/2023 13:18

Eating a snack on public transport is very normal, yes.

C1N1C · 05/02/2023 13:18

Scandal!!!

jacult · 05/02/2023 13:19

Sounds perfectly normal and a lot less hassle than doing the crudités and hummus dip I’ve seen some people on the bus try and give their children - always ends up a mess!!

stbrandonsboat · 05/02/2023 13:20

In the summer, dh used to wrap an ice lolly in foil and give it to ds, when he finished school, to eat in the car on the way home.

Keepyourmummysboys · 05/02/2023 13:20

So confused op. Do you think folks shouldn’t be able to eat on the bus?

AGoodDayForSomebodyElseToDie · 05/02/2023 13:21

Did they freeze them in the freezer bag before eating them on the bus? That would be quite unusual...

ZenNudist · 05/02/2023 13:22

How do you know they were heading home and not straight off to a club?

My dc gets a peanut butter sandwich between school and piano. I'm in bmw not a bus. Is that more acceptable?

MavisMcMinty · 05/02/2023 13:22

Eat when you’re hungry
Drink when you’re dry
If the moonshine don’t get you
You’ll live till you die.

TheShellBeach · 05/02/2023 13:22

"Cooking up"?
What did that mean?

sweeneytoddsrazor · 05/02/2023 13:22

The food isn't the unusual thing in that scenario. I would say its picking up a teenager from school to get the bus home, unless there are particular needs.

MajesticWhine · 05/02/2023 13:25

Seems like a good option, especially in between activities.

Keepyourmummysboys · 05/02/2023 13:29

I’ve seen some weird threads in here, but “is it the done thing if a kid has a snack on way back from school on the bus”, is one of the oddest.

FourAndTwentyBlackbirdsBakedInAPie · 05/02/2023 13:29

Is it any different than cooking a sausage roll or mini sausages or making a sandwich?

It's just a snack.

Keepyourmummysboys · 05/02/2023 13:31

Op did you vote you weren’t being unreasonable?😂

Myotherusernamewastakenagain · 05/02/2023 13:32

TheShellBeach · 05/02/2023 13:22

"Cooking up"?
What did that mean?

Or did she fry them off?

MrsMoastyToasty · 05/02/2023 13:32

It's cheaper than a trip to Macdonalds for chicken nuggets.

PinkRiceKrispies · 05/02/2023 13:35

I said it was lighthearted, just surprised me that's all!

OP posts:
TheSnowyOwl · 05/02/2023 13:37

Surely it’s just the same as having a packed lunch or snack? I don’t think what the contents is matters, as we all have different tastes, so I think it’s quite usual.

Poppyblush · 05/02/2023 14:13

I refrigerated chicken goujons in school bag for 8 hours? Gross.
In a thermos, so what.

Happygone · 05/02/2023 16:03

I take mine a snack

BamBamBilla · 05/02/2023 16:05

Not much difference between that and eating a KFC on the bus. Just cheaper.

PuttingDownRoots · 05/02/2023 16:07

M&S sells cooked chicken bites in its picnic section...

If its good enough for M&S!

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 05/02/2023 16:11

I once saw a woman eating a yogurt on a train.
