Snoring on flight in business class

I have never flown business class so am curious as to what happens if someone snores loudly on a night flight so other people cannot sleep?
If I had paid thousands for a flight I wouldn't be happy for someone to be snoring loudly.
But if I was a loud snorer it's not like I could stop unless forceably kept awake.

How does this work? Looking for answers from flight crew or business class regulars....

I would be gutted, but there's not much you can do about it unfortunately

Loics · 03/02/2023 20:35

What do you expect the flight crew to do? Discreetly smother the snorers?
Honestly, I could gently shake DP, boot him with force, ask him nicely, yell at him... none of it would stop him snoring with the force of a pneumatic drill. It's involuntary.
I use noise cancelling earphones, it's either that or spend all night waking him, for him to fall back asleep and start snoring again almost immediately.

We regularly fly business class to the states (thanks to airmiles, we don't pay thousands!), and while you can sometimes hear people snoring, it's not really that loud as the engine noise masks it.

Flying home last month I had a snorer behind me but still managed to get to sleep fine and slept for 10 hours Grin

AnotherAppleThief · 03/02/2023 20:37

I think the OP is the snorer and is wondering if she'll be shamed.

@LocalHobo that was probs my DH he flew out of Dubai on Monday.

He is a big time snorer. I'm was worried that he would be constantly woken up by staff or other passengers and get no sleep.

And simultaneously worried for the other passengers...

Don't ever travel on a plane with me. I snore like a warthog, can sleep on a clothes line, so even short haul I can get a kip in. And I fart. A lot.

MajorCarolDanvers · 03/02/2023 20:39

Human snore and fart and burp even in business class.

Sparklesocks · 03/02/2023 20:40

It’s just one of the ‘risks’ of sharing a small space with other people. The surrounding passengers may have bought expensive tickets but so has the snorer, the staff can’t just wake them up and tell them to stop snoring. Also you never know if someone has a medical issue and can’t help it.

Why didn’t you just ask him if he was constantly woken up to stop snoring or if he had a good nights sleep?

You sound awful - but I like you Grin

@Roundandnour I didn't want to shame him

Interesting. So you’re worried about him being woken up and getting no sleep but don’t seem to give a shit about everyone else he’s selfishly going to impact?

How on earth is it shaming to ask someone how their journey was?

Blip · 03/02/2023 20:43

@TheHotdog please read the post you quoted and you'll realise that's not the case

I did read it. I don’t buy the faux concern. Tell your DH to sort his snoring out.

Blip · 03/02/2023 20:45

@Roundandnour I did ask him if he slept and he said he got a few hours. I wouldn't ask what happened regarding his snoring as it would make him feel self conscious and shamed.

They provide you with noise cancelling headphones

Pleasecreateausername13 · 03/02/2023 20:47

Is this thread a wind up?

meetmeatmidnights · 03/02/2023 20:48

I've never had an issue with a snorer! Tbh I keep my headphones on, the only thing they didn't manage to keep out was a badly whining baby - but I think the parents were having a worse time, midway across the Atlantic with a baby that was not having a fun time.

Snoring I've never been able to hear through the headphones!

Blip · 03/02/2023 20:48

@TheHotdog ok so you're saying that I'm a liar and my DH just needs to stop snoring?
What's your problem?!!!

This is about a flight your DH tool on Monday? Weird you’re dwelling on it. No one smothered him. The plane didn’t make an emergency landing. What answers are you looking for? People may have heard him and he may have been annoying but also they would have had ear plugs, noise cancelling headphones and it’s only 1 night.

Blip · 03/02/2023 20:49

@Pleasecreateausername13 no, why would it be a wind up?

@Pleasecreateausername13 no, why would it be a wind up?

Why would you give two shites about your hubby potentially snoring on a flight never mind posting about it?

This is utterly bizarre.

Blip · 03/02/2023 20:51

@FlounderingFruitcake I'm interested that is all. Looking for the answers that people have kindly supplied apart from the rude ones that I could have done without 😆
