Are Ryanair deliberately obtuse?

I'm trying to book a flight from realtively obscure Airport in one country to realtively obscure Airport in another country.

Using Google snd Skyscanner, it looks like Ryanair connect my RO Airports through Stanstead and it could all possibly work like a dream.

BUT Ryanair's website will not connect the dots! I can only enquire about single legs and then I must offer up my first born (or sign in). Am I missing something? I haven't flown Ryanair for decades after a traumatic debacle but needs must.

Is there an easy way to deal with them or is this the price to pay?

So IABU: Ryanair are totally user friendly.
YABU : yes, they do make things less easy than necessary

I hate Ryanair so it doesn't surprise me.

StillWantingADog · 31/01/2023 20:41

Not sure what you mean about offering up your first born but ryanair is strictly point to point
Don’t do connections
so you need to book the legs separately, collect luggage, enter the uk, check in again and go through security

doable? Yes if plenty of time. Bear in mind ryanair will not compensate or rebook you if first flight is late or cancelled.

Slowingdownagain · 31/01/2023 20:42

Ryan air are rubbish for customer service. They are so cheap because they scale back on everything. I expect the don’t offer connections as then they’d be liable if delays or cancellation impact your second flight.

Applesandcarrots · 31/01/2023 20:43

It's a low cost airline so you book everything separately with self transfer. They are not lufthansa.

N4ish · 31/01/2023 20:44

Just book each leg separately, that’s how Ryanair works.

Exactly this!

halfgirlhalfturnip · 31/01/2023 20:46

As otherssaid..There is a financial responsibility and cost to an airline to connecting passengers. Booking 2 separate legs will not cover you for a non connected booking - hence low cost- so get insurance . For obtuse read smart and successful.

Soproudoflionesses · 31/01/2023 20:47

Hate Ryanair with a passion but they are the only airline l can use for where l want to go but yes l agree op - awkward company to use

MrsPriceAndHerJamTarts · 31/01/2023 20:50

Just book the two flights separately. But make sure you've got PLENTY of time between! I've flown from Europe to Gatwick, then on to a different UK airport (with easyJet so similar low cost carrier) and it took much longer than we expected to disembark, do passport control, collect luggage, recheck luggage, do security, find gate... there was barely enough time for a bag of crisps!

whataboutsecondbreakfast · 31/01/2023 20:51

RyanAir are cheap for a reason.

They don't do connections because it costs them money when it goes wrong.

Applesandcarrots · 31/01/2023 20:52

Tbh I never found ryanair or other low costs awkward or difficult but I just use them as they are intended, cheap (ish) A to B with no expectations

Cocochat · 31/01/2023 20:52

Ryanair have (1 stop) underneath connecting flights.
I would go on their chat facility and ask them.
I use Ryanair a lot and book my dm special assistance on their flights.

It’s not the easiest site to use though.

Mandasporian · 31/01/2023 21:07

I think that's what I was asking really and you've all confirmed it.

Not cheap mind you in this case. It's on a par with Iberia and BA.

Not sure what you mean about offering up your first born

I'm pretty sure the rights to my first born were in their terms and conditions.

SkyScanner & Google may be showing flights that previously existed, if they are not showing on the Ryanair website I'd assume it's not a currently serviced route? Or as others have suggested, you need to book single flights and risk the connection?

Maryquitecontrary55 · 31/01/2023 21:12

No frills mean no frills. It's just a bus in the air. Of course they don't organise connections.

crazycadetmum · 31/01/2023 21:16

I had difficulty accessing their website one evening last week . nothing would let me in and when I dud get in it was easier..I download thier app to book through as I couldn't get the website to work on my phone.. tablet or work computer .took me one hour it get booked ...I nearly lost the will to live. I checked something the following morning early snd the app was much quicker!

Cheeseandlobster · 31/01/2023 21:17

Ryan Air website is THE worst. It makes me feel stressed just remembering it. The last time we used them the guy at airport parking asked who were flying with then referred to them as Ryan Scare. Sums it up really.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 31/01/2023 21:19

It’s so not user friendly and hasn’t been update really since they launched. Very frsutrating

earsup · 31/01/2023 21:24

I use them about 5 times a year....book early, get very cheap deals and in over 20 years only had one delay of one hour !...I like them but the booking site is slow with all the reminders about car hire, insurance etc etc...annoying to keep skipping all that stuff.

whoamitojudge · 31/01/2023 21:25

It’s a very basic airline so you are best to book two separate flights but leave plenty of time in between.
My DD was crew for RyanAir and loved the job but not the company

user1496146479 · 31/01/2023 21:27

Ryanair don't do connecting flights, just point to point only. Just coordinate it yourself?

countrygirl99 · 01/02/2023 08:00

The way Ryanair work can be an advantage. With other airlines if you miss your flight out the return is cancelled. With Ryan Air that doesn't happen. It all depends on what is more important to you.

ichundich · 01/02/2023 08:06

Ryanair are awful. Nearly every time I've been tempted by their "low" fares and exotic destinations I've been let down badly. My advice would be to book with Easyjet and get a train to wherever you want to go.

ReneBumsWombats · 01/02/2023 08:14

There's a reason Ruinair is so cheap. They do absolutely nothing except get you point to point. They won't arrange any transfers for you. Leave a lot of time between flights. Ideally, fly with someone else.
