To think these houses will soon look dated?

Our neighbour has a detached 1930s red brick house that he slapped grey rendering over, outside uplighters, plantation shutters and grey pvc windows.
AIBU for thinking this will be the avocado baths of the future that many people dislike?

My bedroom ceiling is wallpapered thanks to the previous owners. It's white but textured paper and you can see the joins between each strip. Very odd choice!

YANBU, it looks bloody awful.

I think they can be lovely. But it does increase heating costs.

Oh yeah. It's more of a challenge to be fair. Wish we'd gone for underfloor. That's my only regret.

I do love how MN sneers at the DM relentlessly yet so many people are familiar with its content!

On the subject of building fads that won't age well I loathe what I call the garden shed school of architecture all that nasty looking external cladding!

Is the pebbledash of the future and will cost people thousands to get back to brick!

Or the stone cladding, famously featured in Coronation Street.

So true!

Do you mean the style where there’ll be some wooden planks bolted to the side of the building in one area, some shiny metal stuff somewhere else and then an expanse of plastic-looking cladding for good measure? Very popular in the noughties but thankfully seems to have had its day. If so, a garden shed is far easier on the eye!
