To feel sorry for Brooklyn Beckham?

Ridelikethewindypops · 28/01/2023 09:32

I just do feel a bit sorry for him. He's completely out of touch with the real world obviously, but he's so young and so gormless. But seems so determined to be famous in his own right, despite no specialist skill set. I wonder do famous parents ever encourage their children to go to uni and get a real job? Or is that not an option? There are plenty of fulfilling jobs he could do, teaching, nursing, even volunteering ( as he clearly doesn't need the money)
I feel bad for him as he gets mocked online, but he still seems determined to put himself out there.
Money aside, I do feel sorry for the children of spectacularly talented parents, it must cast a long shadow. ( I repeat, money aside...😅)

He is ridiculous, I’m sorry but he is.

He decided he was going to be a professional photographer, got into (was bought into) an excellent college and dropped out because he couldn’t be arsed to actually do the work … why would he when there was a book deal waiting for him and David Attenborough.

His book came out and it was an absolute joke, my 7 year olds have taken better photos on my phone. Someone (his parents!) should have stopped that mockery of a book from being released.

Then he decided he was going to be a professional chef but he can’t be arsed to actually put the work in so he does online videos with mummy and daddy’s famous friends … I remember seeing one of his videos and it was something ridiculous like “a bacon sandwich”. It’s almost like he’s taking the piss out of himself! The sad fact is he’s actually being serious.

The recent video of him getting into an expensive car and someone pretended they didn’t know who he was and asked what he did for a living to be able to afford such a car … he said “I’m a chef”. Cringe!!! No Brooklyn, you’re not a chef love, you post videos of yourself on social media. Go to culinary school, work in the business for a few years and then maybe call yourself a chef.

irritating lazy little twat that he is.

There were pictures of him in the tabloids with his little camera everywhere when he was going to be a world famous photographer 😂

TidyDancer · 28/01/2023 11:13

I don't feel sorry for BB but I do cringe at pretty much everything he and his wife do. I think they regard themselves as some kind of iconic couple who are big time influencers. It's embarrassing. They are a laughing stock.

RudsyFarmer · 28/01/2023 11:13

Both he and his wife come from huge wealth. I can’t help but wonder what they do with their days. If it’s just wafting around spending cash that’s going to get dull very quickly. Everybody needs a purpose for good mental health.

Butchyrestingface · 28/01/2023 11:14

Of all the genuinely afflicted people on this earth, you choose to feel sorry for this prat??

Give yourself a slap, OP.

TheaBrandt · 28/01/2023 11:14

He seems to have minimal self awareness which for him is probably a good thing

RudsyFarmer · 28/01/2023 11:15

Wasn’t there also one of those TikToks where the guy asked him what he did for a living as he got out of his McClaren super car? I’m going to guess he said nothing 🤣

In 2017, Beckham announced that he would pursue a photography degree at Parsons School of Design at the New School in New York. He failed to complete the first year of the four year course and subsequently abandoned his degree. Beckham's first book of photography, entitled What I See, was published in June 2017.

All the money in the world, he could have done anything,

He doesn’t want to do the hard work to actually qualify in anything, he thinks money can buy him anything. Now he’s got a wife on tow, another one who has a rich daddy, and she’s the same, a ‘model’ (aren’t they all) without any talent. They don’t have to have proper jobs, so their lives are filled with hobbies, holidays, instagram and nothing!

He said he has a cooking show I think.

midsomermurderess · 28/01/2023 11:18

Gordon Ramsay has a son in the Marines, so that bucks the trend. But yes, these gormless, directionless offspring of the famous, they really are not enviable.

Museya15 · 28/01/2023 11:19

His mum apparently has a wicked sense of humour, I think he is trolling his audience!

mrstumblet · 28/01/2023 11:19

One of the things you have to realise is children of people like the beckhams are surrounded by yes people from an early age, nannies, drivers and later PR teams who have the job of pleasing their charge. That translates into adulthood where agents and security are at their disposal.

Their world is totally different to ours, unless you have natural talent you are going to go from one expensive hobby to another with little thought for the long term.

When I was involved in working for such families I would say it's like an average child's Christmas x 50 every day! That's not to say they are happier but they have a thought ( new sport or hobby etc) and next thing it's happening.

I think more needs to be done to protection celebrate off spring at a younger age, it can be done (Ramsey etc) but the parents drive for the celeb world and for the brand to keep ticking on can also be great. You also have to remember parents are surrounded by yes people who will encourage any 'talent'

Yeah he didn’t mention his trust fund basically.

faultythighs · 28/01/2023 11:12

There were pictures of him in the tabloids with his little camera everywhere when he was going to be a world famous photographer 😂

That’s another thing, he has the money to buy the best camera in the world and let’s face it, he probably did. Yet he still managed to take shite photos 😂

my prediction is his wife will meet a decent man sometime soon, someone who actually has a work ethic and some talent in something and she’ll dump BB.

He’ll have a bit of a meltdown, will be photographed stumbling out of LA nightclubs for a few weeks and then he’ll suddenly resurface ready to show the world his new career venture. We could make a game out of guessing what he’ll “become” next.

I’ll go for Mixologist … where he’ll post videos of himself chucking glasses around etc trying to look like he knows what he’s doing.

singlefish · 28/01/2023 11:24

I think it shows how extreme wealth can actually be pretty damaging for a kid. And I think the Beckhams are good parents with an formidable work ethic ( even if posh isn’t the most talented)

some of the most character building experiences I had were when I was doing minimum wage jobs as a student, or even my paper run. It makes you appreciate the value of money. But also, it’s about turning up on time when you don’t feel like it, or missing out in a social event because you have a long shift in a bar.

Parkinglotlatte · 28/01/2023 11:27

Not sure VB is anything other than lucky and shameless to be honest! She can't sing but got lucky. Married DB which increased her fame a million times. Then suddenly became a 'fashion designer.' What training did she have for this? I suspect she has real designers working for her and she feeds them some ideas. Anyone could do the same with the money behind them. Her businesss is failing. I don't dislike or like her but it is ridiculous to say she is a grafter/ talented/ business minded. Lucky and no embarrassment / self-doubt to place herself in a world she doesn't have any qualifications in (fashion) using her profile from being married to DB. That is it. If she hadn't married him, the former Spice girl would barely get a mention.

As does Stella McCartney's fashion empire. It helps if your failing business is backed by someone with deep pocket and an indulgent smile!

Not too indulgent

Ah bollix. He's just like a lot of unfoccused people looking for an identity. At least he's trying..

Just ripe for Transing I would say. After all isn’t that the next step for aimless attention seeking 😂

faultythighs · 28/01/2023 11:29

@Pensatucky hasn't he already done that with his gin and tonic 😂

She does. She told everyone how talented her son was as a photographer.

done4now · 28/01/2023 11:35

HeavenIsAHalfpipe · 28/01/2023 10:26

He is definitely gormless and has no talent or skills (that I know of!) But I certainly don't feel bloody sorry for him! He leads a blessed life and is very fortunate. BTW, the book that was published, (of photos he took,) is atrocious. The photos look like they have been taken with a potato, by a 3 year old.

It sickens me that people like him can get stuff published at the drop of a hat, no matter how shit it is, when many other unknown people can't catch a break in a similar field (writing, art, photography etc...) Hmm

I also wouldn't call VB 'spectacularly talented.' No-one would have touched her and her 'designs' if she has not been already famous. Same as Brooklyn. His photos would have been laughed at and binned if he hadn't been a child of the Beckhams.

@HeavenIsAHalfpipe

But surely this is part of the problem, that the wider world is more than willing to reward his behaviour and use a very young person for their own gain? It's not his fault that his book got published over more talented but unknown photographers, it's the publisher's for being willing to use a very young person for simply because they thought his name recognition would sell books.

And I do give VB some real credit for having the ambition and/or intelligence to have parlayed herself into a brand rather than slinking away as a washed up, not very talented singer.

Shunkleisshiny · 28/01/2023 11:35

The Amazon customer reviews for his book were very funny (Not as funny as the infamous Veet for Men reveiws, but that's a whole different thread😆😂)

HerReputationMadeItDifficultToProceed · 28/01/2023 11:36

He's got no real impetus to work though has he? He's rich and he's famous- even if just for being a Beckham- with a beautiful and rich wife who is wouldn't have given him a second look if not for his parents. It's probably a bit empty and depressing in some ways, but it doesn't present a fire underneath him to make him work. You can't really blame him for that.

pilates · 28/01/2023 11:36

No, certainly not.

roarfeckingroarr · 28/01/2023 11:37

I feel for him. We're all just an accident of birth - some very fortunate, some born into poverty. There's nothing intrinsically noble about being poor. His advantages were his parents' decisions; not his, and it's not his fault he's not brighter / prettier / more talented.

ssd · 28/01/2023 11:37

He's been shoved in front of a camera all his life, no wonder hes attention seeking and annoying.
