To ask (in desperation!) for help finding passport

IfIHadAHeart · 26/01/2023 15:48

As the title says really, I need my passport on Saturday and cannot find it anywhere. A complicating factor is that I left H a few months ago and may have placed passports somewhere “safe” either at home or at my mums where I stayed for a bit. Both houses turned upside down with no joy, so I’m hoping you lovely people may have some suggestions. I am now too stressed to think straight!!

I think I remember taking them to my mums but to be honest I’m not sure if that’s just because I can’t find them at home. H is now out of the house but can’t rule out him having moved them either I suppose. Annoyingly the only passport I have found is his!

Please help!

Oh just seen the update. What a relief.

fruitbrewhaha · 27/01/2023 15:10

Ah thank goodness

ePurSiMuove · 27/01/2023 15:10

Apparently studies show that if you repeat the name of the missing item as you search for it, it is often found quicker

Dontjudgeme101 · 27/01/2023 15:11

Thank goodness op.

When I kicked my ex husband out I had to use mine as ID for council tax reduction. Could it be in an envelope somewhere with other documents needed?

GrimDamnFanjo · 27/01/2023 15:36

Mine fell down the back of a desk where I'd placed a small set of drawers for important docs.

Bramshott · 27/01/2023 15:38

Brilliant news!

AlwaysLatte · 27/01/2023 15:43

Did you take a rucksack or anything when you last travelled that it could still be in (small pocket?)

AlwaysLatte · 27/01/2023 15:44

Amongst paperwork that may have required it for ID? Eg job application or similar?

Stillcountingbeans · 27/01/2023 15:55

Okay so it looks like DH deliberately put them in an envelope along with his paperwork, probably intending to take them into his 'custody'.

This means he doesn't trust you, and also you can't trust him.
Sorry.

Read the thread. The passports have been found.

RoseBurt · 27/01/2023 16:09

If it was in a drawer, take the whole drawer out and check in the bottom of the unit - I loads ours but I knew I’d put them in a drawer, turned out they could slip out of the back of the full drawer and drop into the drawer carcass.

Lovetolosepounds · 27/01/2023 17:50

Last one was in the drawer it should have been in but caught up somehow at top or back.

LlynTegid · 27/01/2023 17:55

Enjoy your trip OP.

whistleblown · 27/01/2023 20:19

Ask in the spirituality section, you get lots of psychics on there who might be able to locate it.

OkPedro · 27/01/2023 20:20

Have you tried praying to St Anthony??

ladyofshertonabbas · 27/01/2023 20:21

Inside a bag. Or in the car.

Thank you all so much - they’ve been found!

Tried all your tips, eventually the only place left to look was a box of H’s belongings that are still in the garage. There they were inside an envelope full of his paperwork. Definitely not where they should have been…

That's great, such a relief for you!

For anyone else with the problem I would recommend turning the house upside down, inside out, then eventually booking an appointment at your nearest Passport Office, it will then show itself within half an hour! At least that was my experience. Remember to call the Passport Office to cancel, I did and they were most surprised, most people don't bother.

Bit harsh. Does everyone read a whole thread before replying? What if it's pages? Is it possible for the OP to update the original post to avoid this situation?
