I'm creeped out and don't think I'll be able to sleep

This happened about 1hr ago and I'm still creeped out.

I put on my clean pjs and got into bed. I'm by myself tonight so all the lights were off etc. My hip started itching/feeling a bit scratchy so I adjusted my trousers to move the label that seemed to be bothering me. A few minutes later, it was bothering me again so I thought maybe a feather was sticking into my trousers so had a feel about.

Not a label. Not a feather. There was something MOVING in my trousers. I jumped out of bed as fast as I could and pulled my trousers down. I managed to get it out of my trousers. I think it was a GIANT moth. It flew (possibly jumped?) off before I could properly look but it was MASSIVE. Seriously, it look up most of my cupped hand.

I think it was a moth. I'm sort of guessing it was because it felt fluttery or shaky and furry in my hand.

This giant fluttery furry thing that was IN my pjs is now somewhere in my house.

I'm all itchy and unsettled. Insects don't normally bother me but now I'm all itchy and had a thought about more moths in my bed/pjs climbing up my nose while I sleep.

On top of that... I'm freaked out but also sad now that the moth (if that's what it was) is going to die because there is no way that escapade didn't damage it's wings.

I mean, what is a giant moth doing in my pjs in January?!

Shudder. Check your pjs over folks.

I once found a live toad in my bikini bottoms. I’d put them on the line to dry - I still can’t work out how it hopped that high. Luckily I realised before I put them on.

Oh my gosh I really wouldn't like that! I hope you're ok!
Not moth related but in the summer DH bent over the bath to remove the plug and moved the shower curtain out of the way. When he stood up to talk to me a huge black spider was crawling over his shoulder and hair (his hair is shoulder length). I couldn't get away from him fast enough! I always check the shower and bath now before getting in.
I'm going to start checking my pyjamas too!

If it was a moth you need to check everything , the larvae can devastate anything that's made of fabric including carpets

Ddog crawled into bed and under the covers with me one night and I immediately felt something long, wet, and cold on my stomach. Thinking it was his willy, I shoved him off the bed only to discover an enormous slug stuck to my belly.

I think people are overreacting. If having something itchy and furry in your pj trousers is a crime then lock me up officer.

I’ve heard stories of these eating people in their sleep. When you enter a light sleep they cover ur face and send you deeper into sleep then start eating you from your nose down. Usually where there’s 1, there’s 100 or more. Very sociable animals, never alone.

you can easily kill them off but it’ll take me ages to tell you how and I’m tired

goodnight, if you make it to tomorrow, I’ll tell you what to do to eliminate them

It might have been one of the moths from silence of the lambs. Not sure what you can do with that information and don't mean to alarm you but it probably means Buffalo Bill's coming for you.

@Johnduttonsbuttocks me or the moths? Maybe YSL deliberately included some eggs so that I'd have to go back and buy another suit!

You should have seen my collection of silk ties.

I never saw any actual moths.

I rescued this beautiful Lobster moth from the floor of a toilet block on a campsite last summer.

I'm creeped out and don't think I'll be able to sleep

This is my absolute nightmare. A few months ago when my DD was born, my DP sent me for a lovely early night and I could hear very slight tapping and I bloody knew I was being hunted down. Turned the light on and it was a moth the size of my bloody hand.

Thankyou everyone for this magnificent thread which has been cracking bedtime reading 🤣
I once woke up to a fox slashing a hole in the bell tent I was staying in in my friend's garden trying to get in.... (fox and tent were normally present in said garden but no previous incidences).... I went back to sleep and left the door unzipped so it wouldn't do any more damage if it wanted to come back (I like foxes)....
Woken up to it trying to get in bed with me, squealed, thought I'd dreamt it but there were paw prints.... It had scampered off but I said look I'm not scared now, come back if you like... And it come and had a mooch around the tent, lol...
I also am friends with spiders and wasps... They are both lovely if you really slow down and get to know them...

My brother once reached out for his glass of water on his bedside table in the dark one night, took a sip and ended up with a massive house spider in his mouth. I would have dropped dead there and then if that had happened to me.

Oh my God! That would definitely do me in! It’s terrifying just thinking about it.

I remember I once stayed at my mums. I got in to bed and after a few minutes felt something furry crawling in the bed. I screamed and got out that bed pretty quickly. Pulled off the covers to see my younger sisters hamster staring up at me. Scared the life out of me !! I still now always pull back the covers to check there isn’t anything in there before getting in 😂
