To use Chatgpt to make me popular on Mumsnet

Meltedcheeses · 21/01/2023 14:16

I asked Chatgpt to write a post for Mumsnet that would get lots of comments.

This is what it said!!!!

See images.

YABU - the post chatgpt suggested is not a great post and even is quite moronic and patronising
YANBU - let us indeed all discuss meals at length

i asked chatgpt to write my meal plan for next week so i feel seen 😂

noblegiraffe · 21/01/2023 16:52

This one would definitely kick off

"Hey Mumsnetters,

I'm currently pregnant with my first child and my partner and I are trying to decide on a name. We've narrowed it down to three options: Tom, Henry, and Balonz.

Which name do you think would be the best fit for our baby? Do you have any experiences with any of these names? Are there any pros or cons you can think of? Would love to hear your thoughts and opinions!

Thanks in advance!

shinynewapple22 · 21/01/2023 16:54

I have never heard of ChatGpt but this makes me wonder if this is the reason for a lot of threads we get where the OP seems to be asking for info but adds nothing themselves (the ones people often think are journalists).

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2023 16:55

Meltedcheeses · 21/01/2023 16:39

@JaneJeffer your idea was good....the post you requested is quite funny I think

Grin the audacity

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/01/2023 16:56

I see AI is as sexist as it is racist. Nice to know.

I'll write you one:

My MIL saw the state of the bathroom and bought me a toilet brush. I gave her a cheque for the money and DH was helping with housework and said that he would chastise me if I didn't clean the toilet properly. MIL is moving in. Something about towels being washed daily and a tumble dryer.

Done.

AdventFridgeOfShame · 21/01/2023 16:57

Does it do answers as well as OPs?
Then either we could al be redundant or could let the bots chat to themselves and have nice arguments about what Gove has for breakfast and is it above average.

Meltedcheeses · 21/01/2023 16:59

@noblegiraffe They make me laugh so much. I'm not sure why. I just asked it to write a mumsnet post that will get everyone talking and the result was this....

Surely if you actually want a lot of responses, you just post on the Feminist board that you think Nicola Sturgeon has it dead right and you don’t understand why everyone disagrees with her on self-ID. Then sit back with the popcorn…

Meltedcheeses · 21/01/2023 17:01

@AdventFridgeOfShame it can't access websites as it is offline. I could ask it how to.reply to one post....I will find one that is not sensitive to demo....wait there (not literally I just mean I'll do it in a bit!)

OP posts:
catsonahottinroof · 21/01/2023 17:09

I think the trouble with this sort of post is it sounds like a journalist fishing for ideas for an article. All posts which invite readers to 'share their experience' come across this way to me.

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/01/2023 17:10

Hotdesking makes people murderous with rage so it might be on to something there.

Bagzzz · 21/01/2023 17:15

Asked for a funny Mumsnet post and got
Toddler's Shakespeare auditioning
Has anyone else noticed that their toddler's favorite word is 'no'? It's like they're auditioning for a role in a Shakespeare play or something. 'To nap or not to nap, that is the question...'
#toddlerlife #shakespearejunior"

Reasonable but I’ve rarely if ever see # used here

Meltedcheeses · 21/01/2023 17:17

It actually was quite good at replying on a couple of posts I tried it with.

This is the reply to someone today asking what to do re some boys who behaved badly at a party.

Glad you find winding women up on a serious subject hilarious. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Sirius3030 · 21/01/2023 17:26

"AIBU to feel like my relationship is in a rut? My partner and I have been together for 5 years and it feels like we're just going through the motions. We don't have much fun together anymore and it feels like we're just roommates. I've tried bringing it up with him but he just shrugs it off and says "it's just a phase" or "we're just comfortable with each other". I don't want to end the relationship but I don't know how to make it better. I'm starting to feel like I'm not important to him anymore. Am I being unrealistic to want more excitement and passion in my relationship?"

Meltedcheeses · 21/01/2023 17:30

@Sirius3030 I find that very convincing...if lacking in detail. Have you asked it to write a reply.

OP posts:
Christmaspyjamas · 21/01/2023 17:32

@Bagzzz I asked it to write a text that would make my friend laugh...really don't think humour is its forte!!

FinallyHere · 21/01/2023 17:41

a colleague reported their first time ever that chatgpt could not find an answer - when I replied 'ODFOD' to something they posted

proud

Or that you want to re home your puppy because it shits everywhere.

noblegiraffe · 21/01/2023 18:31

I asked it for a typical controversial MN post

"Hey Mumsnetters,

I wanted to start a conversation about a topic that has been on my mind for a while now and that is vaccination. I know this can be a controversial topic and I respect everyone's individual choices, but I personally believe in the importance of vaccinating our children. I have done my research and I believe that the benefits of vaccination far outweigh any potential risks.

I have noticed recently that there seems to be an increase in the number of parents choosing not to vaccinate their children and I am just wondering what is behind this trend. Is it fear of potential side effects? Misinformation? I would love to hear other people's thoughts on this topic, whether you agree or disagree with me.

I want to stress that this is not meant to be a confrontational or divisive post, but rather a forum for open and respectful discussion.

Thanks in advance!

[Your name]"

Then ChatGTP added

Please note that vaccination is a sensitive topic and it's important to be respectful of other people's opinions and always provide accurate information.

It really is way too conciliatory for AIBU.

asblindasabat · 21/01/2023 18:33
