So, a group of 20 or so kids are throwing mud and rocks at people using the river. A paddleboarder remonstrates with them, they argue back and she hits one with a paddle.
I think she's very brave. And the journalist doesn't think of asking the family how they feel about their son/grandson enjoying himself chucking rocks at people! It's all, poor boy.
If I knew where she lived, I'd send her a bunch of flowers.

If available ", given there seems to be lots of footage available to the CPS and police if a case for an offence could be made against the group of children could be made I’m sure it would have been or used in her defence, but it wasn’t." It most likely wouldn't have been used in her defence as it isn't likely they would have videos of themselves throwing rocks etc. It wouldn't be likely they would provide incriminating evidence of themselves (but would to benefit a friend). Again potentially unlikely police would attend.

No need to make the child bleed she could have hit him with less force.
He was being a little ish so he got what he deserved, basically.

He was 12.

I wonder if people are being unconsciously bias because he is a male.

SarahAshley2 · 15/01/2023 08:04

As much as you’d want to do this, you know it’s wrong! It’s hard to work out from the video what’s actually happening. I’d do anything to protect my child but she would have been better moving away and taking her kids away!

He shouldn't of been throwing rocks. None of them should have.

Every child there would have known what they were doing was wrong.

What if they'd hit someone in the face with a rock. Knocked them out with it, blinded them, broken their nose etc. so fucking dangerous and on a river so potential drowning etc.

She shouldn't have hit him with the paddle.

I still agree with her though. I'd of done the same. £500 well spent if makes any of them think twice about their behaviour.

This should have had further consequences for that 12 year old. Not £500 compensation.

I'd of been mortified if my child was involved.

This thread is awful, there was a group of children throwing stones but they don’t have brains as developed as fully grown people.

My six year old nephew knows you don't stand in groups throwing rocks. That comment is as ridiculous as 'boys will be boys'.

I wonder if people are being unconsciously bias because he is a male.

I doubt it. But, then again, what's the likelihood of some 20-odd girls throwing rocks at people?

SomethingOriginal2 · 15/01/2023 19:16

Id be absolutely ashamed if that was my kid. Never mind posting it all over SM.

They're not mindless zombies compelled to hurl rocks and mud at people. How grown do you think you have to be to know it's not acceptable? Surely this is a pre-requisite before being allowed out of the home alone, right?
