I absolutely love finding a bargain. It gives me the hugest dopamine hit.

I think I've had my biggest ever bargain this week and I am absolutely over the moon.

I found an £8000 Selva furniture set on sideboard, bookcase and display cabinet on Facebook market place. The pieces are only a couple of years old.

It is all handmade in Italy and I cannot believe I managed to purchase it all for £600. I haven't stopped grinning since I picked it all up yesterday. It is the most beautiful furniture I have ever seen in my life.

Other bargains that have given me huge highs are

Immaculate Teak outdoor dining table and benches for £50 on eBay

Huge Loaf wodge velvet sofa was £4500 and found one for £600 at trade secret

I would absolutely love to know the mega special bargains you have found. Bargain sporn? I'm hoping I can get some second hand dopamine from your finds

A genuine Chanel handbag for £7 in a charity shop in 2009. Wasn't convinced it was real but took it to an expert and they confirmed it was from around 1990 and worth £4k.
I still have it and use it on special occasions.

Oh my god! This is absolute gold!!!!!

Ohh I’ve found my people! I love second furniture, I’ve furnished nearly our entire house second hand. Maternity leave has been spent stalking Facebook marketplace in the early hours.

My dining table is my favourite buy. I got 8 x £400 Neptune chairs and a £2000 massive weathered teak table (think it’s from Coach House) for £1,000 in total - might seem like a lot but it’s a genuine “forever table”.

This week I picked up a brand new with tags winter coat that originally sold for £350 for £8 on Vinted. I’d been idly searching for a low key London label and couldn’t believe my eyes.

And my baby carrier, £4 on Vinted but originally £150!

Oh my goddddd. This is giving me pure joy!!

Mine is more of a coincidence/bargain.

Years ago when ds1 was 1 and just started walking, I took him to Clarke to be measured and bought his first shoes for about £50. I'd intended to get two pairs but hadn't realised they were quite that expensive so just bought one. Walked sadly away from a pair of cute blue trainer I just couldn't afford.

He was quite an unusual size - details escape me now but like a 4.5 HH. That night I went to a church fete...and on the clothing stall I found the exact pair of Clarkes trainers I'd been looking at, boxed and obviously new, in his EXACT size, for £2.

I was actually quite freaked out at the time it seemed like such a huge coincidence!

I love bargains and having worked in Retail Buying for 30 years I hate paying full price for anything. 😅

I worked for a famous UK furnishing retailer and after the catalogue photoshoots they would bring the furniture pieces back to head office and have a lucky dip sale (your name was picked randomly from an envelope of interested buyers).

I got a £3000 leather sofa for £150, £1000 armchair for £50, huge wicker framed mirror for 50p.

I work for a Watch/jewelry/accessories company now and their sample sales are amazing - I have 2 £399 leather backpacks I paid £10 for, a limited edition watch which was £50 but now worth £800, designer label sample jewelry which was £3 a piece.

Ooh, I forgot about my ring sling baby carrier, great brand, worth over $100.00, someone in my local baby wearing group posted that they had seen it at the op shop.

I hurried down there just before opening the next day, another lady came a couple of minutes later and we made small talk but didn't mention what we were there for.

The doors opened, we both went through, she headed for the clothes, I figured it would be in with the blankets and sheets, made a beeline for them and..... found it.

I tried to sneak over to the counter as I guessed she was there for the same reason as me but she spotted me and headed over, next thing she's telling me she was looking for the doing, really wanted one asking to feel it etc while I gritted my teeth, smiled, and hung on to one end tightly while letting her feel the other end. 🤣

🤣🤣. Loved that bargain and used it for a long time.

Tomeeornottomee · 14/01/2023 09:46

A pair of jean Paul gaultier sunglasses at a car boot for 50p.

2 asda turkeys on whoops after Xmas (not this year) for £5...had to play freezer jenga to get them in.

A solid bronze art nouveau candlestick for £15, again at a car boot. To get the other one for a matching pair is minimum £300.

Husbands is Dark side of the moon vinyl with the solid blue triangle for a fiver.

OfCourseChangs · 14/01/2023 09:48

Two Ercol Quaker dining chairs for £10 last summer, I just bought four more for £360. They retail at almost £450 per chair.

A silk country casual dress for £10 that retailed at almost £200 and was brand new in a a charity shop it was about 25 years ago and I had about six weddings in two years so wore it to four as no guest crossover.

I got a pair of designer jeans in Tk Maxx for DS last year for £25 reduced from £250.

I was idly browsing hotel sites looking for a hotel in the UK for a cheap night away for me and DH. I went down a rabbit hole and started clicking on stupidly expensive holidays that were coming up just to see why they were so expensive and to torment myself. I ended up clicking on a week all inclusive holiday (Inc flights) to Barcelona listed for £1800 per person but when I clicked through the total costing was £110 for both of us. That got booked pretty quickly .... 😂

bowchicawowwow · 14/01/2023 10:10

I found a Dior baby romper suit in a charity shop in the late 90s for 20p. All three of my DC wore it. I sold it on 10yrs later for £15

Sarahlp101 · 14/01/2023 10:18

£30 mulberry bag from a charity shop..

chorusline79 · 14/01/2023 10:22

onitlikeacarbonnet · 13/01/2023 00:08

I got a Hermès silk scarf in a charity shop for £1.99.

I got one brand new, boxed in a clothes swap party. EBayed it for over £100 and didn’t feel remotely guilty.

ItisallPooh · 14/01/2023 10:32

Just last month a Canada goose Parker in a charity shop. It still had the tags on. £1025 on the tag. I got it for £75. I know I will wear it and wear it.

broccolibush · 14/01/2023 10:34

An ex display sideboard that we paid £80 on the grounds we’d collect it that day instead of the £800 odd it was retailing at. When we got it home we opened the cupboards to find it chock full of packets of Christmas cards - the shop had been using it to store them. We called and offered to return them but the shop wasn’t interested. I didn’t pay for Christmas cards for about a decade, and that was with giving half of them to my sister!

buckeejit · 14/01/2023 10:37

Maybe my wedding tiara. I was looking at harpers bazaar & saw a gorgeous many Pearl encrusted tiara & loved it but it was about £2k. I had a look on eBay & there ending in 15 minutes was almost identical tiara that was originally I think £700 & I got it for £10. I hadn't picked a dress or anything by this point & just decided I would have tiara Tuesdays if it didn't work but it did & I still love it.

Mil bought a bracelet in a charity shop for £1.79 & when she got home bil confirmed it was real gold & diamonds - turned out to be Chopard with no hallmark & worth £5-£6k!

Whammyyammy · 14/01/2023 10:40

A 'gold plated' cigarette case my husband bought at a car boot for £10, was a 18k gold case, worth about £450 in scrap. He still has it, and he doesn't smoke???

DecommissionedVag · 14/01/2023 10:45

A black Oasis suit jacket from an ex catalogue shop, approx 20yrs ago, for £5. When I looked in the catalogue it was £110!

Online Black Friday sale about 5 years ago, I bought several bottles of d'ecleor aromessence neroli face oil for £10 each. Usually cost about £45.

DecommissionedVag · 14/01/2023 10:51

DH didn't pass his driving test until he was 29. He bought his first car (and old seat arosa) off a bloke down the pub for £80. The guy selling it wanted rid of it because he didn't think it'd pass its upcoming MOT. DH got his BIL to have a look at it, did some minor work which cost about £100 total and it passed the MOT with flying colours. He had the car for 4 more years before it went to the scrap heap, and it was a reliable little car.

A quinny pram, it was hundreds of pounds and I'd saved hard for it for my daughter.
I got to the till, Massive grin on my face- I was skint so it felt like a proper achievement.

They scanned it, scanned at £37.50. Even skint I was too honest, and I started saying, no, that's not right. No, it should be a lot more than that.

The lady at the till just kept telling me, that's what it's scanning as.
I still can't believe my luck, 14 years or so on!

I love this!!

isthismylifenow · 14/01/2023 11:01

I went into the Levi's store and they have a table of mark downs. Some end of range or shop soiled jeans. I found a pair of Ribcage that fitted me like a glove. They were 12 pounds. When I got to the till to pay the cashier asked did I get them from the mark down table. When I said yes she said well go back and get some more as they are buy on get one free. 😀 So I got a pair of 501s as well.

I wear them both to death and I am still so chuffed about it.

I do love a bargain, it perks me up like nothing else.

StubbleAndSqueak · 14/01/2023 11:02

Jewellery from an antique fair. Loved it and wore it everywhere in the sea, supermarket etc
Turns out they should have add a few more zeros onto the price as its not fake stones
Almost scared to wear it now

MargaretRiver · 14/01/2023 11:08

In 2019 I went to Italy with my mum. Everywhere we went, we saw this beautiful Italian-made marquetry. We spent ages in shops, admiring it, and gasping at the prices. Even the smallest piece was £100+.

When we returned home, I was thinking about what to get mum for her birthday, and idly wandered if I could find her a piece of marquetry. Ended up on Ebay, and found a A4-sized piece showing exactly the location in Italy where we'd holidayed together, and made in the area!! £12!!

When she unwrapped it, she said "when did you manage to sneak away from me and get this?!" I didn't! It was good old Ebay.
