I absolutely love finding a bargain. It gives me the hugest dopamine hit.

I think I've had my biggest ever bargain this week and I am absolutely over the moon.

I found an £8000 Selva furniture set on sideboard, bookcase and display cabinet on Facebook market place. The pieces are only a couple of years old.

It is all handmade in Italy and I cannot believe I managed to purchase it all for £600. I haven't stopped grinning since I picked it all up yesterday. It is the most beautiful furniture I have ever seen in my life.

Other bargains that have given me huge highs are

Immaculate Teak outdoor dining table and benches for £50 on eBay

Huge Loaf wodge velvet sofa was £4500 and found one for £600 at trade secret

I would absolutely love to know the mega special bargains you have found. Bargain sporn? I'm hoping I can get some second hand dopamine from your finds

Love this thread!
My sofa set ( 3 seater/ 2 seater and footstool) £200 on FB. Lady had it a year and upgraded! That was 6 years ago, still looking great 👍
Halfeti by Pentagon's perfume and hand-wash set £89. In a decorative tin, from Sanderson boutique- the perfume is worth £189 ..and it's my favourite. That was last year Jan sales.

Buggerthislove · 14/01/2023 01:51

Huge premium 20 piece stainless steel pan set, was worth £200 at the catalogue company I worked at back in 2001, got it in the staff shop for a fiver, it's the only pan set I've ever bought and still using it over 20years later.

StClare101 · 14/01/2023 06:17

A second-hand car for $5000 that I sold five years later for $7500. It was worth $12000 when I bought it.

gfy · 14/01/2023 06:30

I've recently got a second hand joolz pram (and accessories) for new baby, it was valued at over £1600 and I got it for £250 which I thought was awesome but then realised they'd thrown in a sheep skin cosy toes and that alone was worth £180!

My husband.

My cat. Free.

A genuine Chanel handbag for £7 in a charity shop in 2009. Wasn't convinced it was real but took it to an expert and they confirmed it was from around 1990 and worth £4k.
I still have it and use it on special occasions.

Porridgeislife · 14/01/2023 06:49

Ohh I’ve found my people! I love second furniture, I’ve furnished nearly our entire house second hand. Maternity leave has been spent stalking Facebook marketplace in the early hours.

My dining table is my favourite buy. I got 8 x £400 Neptune chairs and a £2000 massive weathered teak table (think it’s from Coach House) for £1,000 in total - might seem like a lot but it’s a genuine “forever table”.

This week I picked up a brand new with tags winter coat that originally sold for £350 for £8 on Vinted. I’d been idly searching for a low key London label and couldn’t believe my eyes.

And my baby carrier, £4 on Vinted but originally £150!

Mydogatemypurse · 14/01/2023 06:58

These are all fab, the scarf though omg amazing 👏

Augend23 · 14/01/2023 06:59

My second hand Miele washing machine was £30 and lasted 6.5 years after I bought it before it eventually bit the dust.

My sofas are of unknown brand but were £0 6 years ago, are supremely comfy, 30 years old and still totally structurally sound and replacing them with anything similar would be thousands.

And a second hand le creuset for £10. But compared to some of the bargains here it doesn't look like I got such a spectacular deal!

I'm drooling over some of the clothing bargains.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 14/01/2023 07:03

5 pairs of jeans in a charity shop. Brand new with all labels.Diesel ,Armani ,super dry .£5 for the lot.
(My sons got really long legs and it's a nightmare finding clothes long enough and they were all extra long legged)

LaTangerina · 14/01/2023 07:12

A discontinued American Girl doll (like new) plus a bundle of American Girl dolls clothes for €5.

harrassedmumto3 · 14/01/2023 07:13

It's bizarre how some of these charity shops really don't know their stuff.
These bargains would never happen where I live!

pumpkincivilisation · 14/01/2023 07:18

I bought 18k gold earrings with angel coral and mini diamonds on eBay for £15. It was sold as costume jewellery. The hallmark was quite small and I have double tested it at pawn shop. All confirmed

StoppinBy · 14/01/2023 07:27

A pair of $300 knee high boots, not a single mark or toe crease on them for $2.00

JennyForeigner · 14/01/2023 07:36

I'd like those le creusets if you decide to sell them on at a 20% mark-up 😄

Mine is a bed. A custom extra-large And So To Bed brass one which is basically the Houses of Parliament of beds and fits all five of us. It is absolutely glorious.

£80 punt on ebay with a terrible picture and no maker name till we got there. It was being sold by a wonderfully posh pair of retired surgeons. They hadn't used ebay before, had redecorated and tried putting it outside but no-one had wanted it. They thought we were adorable for taking it. And then they bustled off for their flight to hike the foothills of K2.

I've had a soft spot for that immensely posh bit of Warwickshire - where people walk past a free £7,000 bed, ever since.

BabyFour2023 · 14/01/2023 07:39

Our first home. It was an absolute dump but 3 huge double bedrooms, driveway for 4 cars, 2 reception rooms and a huge garden! We were early 20s and couldn’t believe we got it. Made a lot of money on it when we sold it end of 2021.

In 2013 I bought some Louboutin So Kate’s for £100. A lady I worked with had been bought them by her husband, didn’t like them so sold them to me for that. I sold them for more than that in 2016 (listed for less but it was eBay and people just carried on bidding)

Wow!

I bought a battered old Art Deco 1930s 8-person dining table with 8 chairs (2 carvers) for £200. It's massive - we comfortably sit 12 people around it. Extends twice. Beautiful geometric design of wood inlay. I love it so much.

I recovered the chairs a few years ago. One day when my lot have finished doing science projects and crafts on it I will strip it and restore the top. In the mean time it is just loved as it is, scars and all, and no one panics if you forget to use a coaster.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 14/01/2023 08:04

Immaculate vintage Burberry raincoat when it was Burberrys. £70. Didn’t suit me so gave it to my sister who looks fab in it.

Cookie79 · 14/01/2023 08:13

A Jaeger dress for £1 and Dubarry boots for £8 both from the Salvation Army shop (highly recommend a mooch in the big warehouse that’s on the way out of Blackpool).

A gorgeous cabinet/cupboard off Facebook marketplace that was £60 and on at over £400 still on the John Lewis website.

DD has a white silk Gucci shirt off Vinted that was £20 - its staff uniform going off the label in the collar. She loves it and gets away with it for school.

My lovely dangly light fitting in the kitchen - £55 from Wayfair but I reviewed a past purchase for a £10 voucher then got £2.25 cash back for going through Quidco. Think it cost more to get it fitted than to buy it 😆

FarmGirl78 · 14/01/2023 08:35

This beautiful solid wood door for 99p from eBay.

And many years ago, due to managing to combine various offers I got a whole years Sky broadband, landline phone and evening and weekend calls for a total of £8. My Mum point blank refused to believe me and insisted I must be mistaken and it was either £8 a week or £8 a month. It wasn't. £8 for the whole year.

A brand new pair of Next full length leather boots in a Charity shop when they had a promotion day of anything for £1.00. They still had tags for £84.00 on !!

It's not a one off- but I'm always excited to visit the John smedley factory shop in Derbyshire. Beautiful merino wool jumpers for £45 which would sell for hundreds in the shop. I tried on a knitted jumpsuit as a joke last time I was there and it was so flattering (on my dumpy size 16 frame!) I had to buy it. £49 but would be £350 full price!

Plus the factory is beautiful, amazing walks and lovely pub lunches nearby- a great day out!

I have a friend that lives nearby and it is always such a treat to visit. I have also bought some incredible pieces from there that have lasted years. The holy grail of knitwear bargains on my opinion
