Has anyone else seen the TV show The Traitors? I've watched the British version, the Australian version and going to watch the American version which begins today. I'm obsessed! I want to go on it! I think I'd be quite good if I was picked as a Traitor. I would have no problem whatsoever in manipulating people and smiling in their face whilst doing it and backstabbing them at the same time but shifting the blame onto someone else😂Anyone else a fan?

Basically you don't control the narrative (as you say that's part of the attraction for you - controlling your own narrative) - the tv company do and they will portray you the way they want to.

That's very sobering to read, and true! I have no desire to be famous at all. And would want to slink back into the background after it was over. So appearing on a reality show on BBC1 might not be the best choice for doing that lol. If there was somehow an option of being able to decide if I could definitely be a Traitor would likely lean me more towards saying 'yes' lol.

It might be too early to say but with the exception of Will or Amanda, I’m not expecting any of the contestants from the first series of the Traitors to remain in the public eye very long. Since it ended they’ve all largely faded back into obscurity, with maybe the odd article in their local rags.

Keyansier · 14/01/2023 13:54

Watching the American version and so far they are all coming across as incredibly thick IMO 😂If I had them as fellow contestants I think I could easily walk it as a Traitor Grin

You're probably right. I wouldn't want them to make me look bad to people watching. I suppose you could say "well if you don't do anything bad then you can't be portrayed that way as they won't have footage" but if you have to backstab people and make them lose so you can win, it might come across as awful behaviour. Was the programme your cousin was on Big Brother?

@Keyansier when I've already said I'm not going to say what programme it was why would you ask me that?

I'm not going to say.

@strumpert
I was just being inquisitive... trying to get some Traitor training in Wink

But I don't get why you wouldn't say, I'm not asking you to name them Confused Was just genuinely interested!

Because I don't want to run any risk that they would be identified.

I don't understand why you're persisting in this.

Unless it was a one off show, it would be difficult to identify someone. Like I can say (truthfully) I know someone who was in the X factor (live shows) but that could be any of probably 200 people when you take into account groups and stuff.

strumpert · 15/01/2023 08:59

It totally depends on the programme and who they are and I'm not going to say. Please can you stop pushing me on this thank you.

Womencanlift · 15/01/2023 09:11

If you came across in the interviews that you definitely wanted to be a Traitor I think they would select you as a Faithful

Saying that I have watched the US one and I can imagine the OP being very similar to one of the Traitors they have selected - without giving spoilers away I don’t mean the lady or the one from another reality show. I mean the very loud, annoying one

That's was my thought process too.

😂That would definitely not be me! I'd have been playing like the lady traitor but without guilt or tears, I'd have to stop myself from bursting out laughing Grin

Yes, I know, you have repeatedly parroted it - I didn't tag or quote you, I was replying to what the other poster said.

OP posts:
strumpert · 15/01/2023 15:41

Why are you being so rude? I'm not parroting anything!

I'm not going to tell you because if I say the programme they may be the first name you say and then I'd have to lie. And I don't lie.

I'm not being rude but you're being pedantic! I KNOW you are not going to say the show because you keep saying it! And have repeatedly come back to the thread saying "please stop pushing me on this" when I'm not - I'd have moved on from the topic by now if you didn't keep coming back and saying the same thing over and over again.

OP posts:

You're rude.

I was replying to the other poster and you DID push after I'd said I wouldn't be saying.

It's really not for me to put myself and more to the point my cousin on a website. That's unfair.

It was ten posts ago I last asked you yesterday and since then five posts have been from you along the lines of "please stop pushing me, I don't want to out my cousin" - I haven't asked!

OP posts:
Phos · 15/01/2023 16:35

Maybe think twice before mentioning it in future if it’s so unfair. You thought no one would ask?
