To think a smashed wine glass is valuable?

A wine glass fell and two perfect teardrop pieces fell out (please see picture). I think it should be worth something (to someone) but DW thinks it should be thrown away.

I actually saved it from the bin.

To think a smashed wine glass is valuable?

You're conflating 'interesting' with 'valuable'. The photo of it is interesting enough to keep, the actual glass not at all.

PUBLIC SERVICE HEALTH WARNING: THIS IS HOW HOARDING STARTS

I know what you mean OP. I feel your vibes. I've often kept crap like that for a while vaguely thinking 'I'll sell it on ebay one day". Three years later, the crap is still there accusatorily looking at me and then about four years later, I get overcome with a clearing urge and throw it out.

Chuck it out.

PurpleButterflyWings · 11/01/2023 13:24

Why on earth do you think it's worth something to someone @Pepslees Confused Is this a wind-up?

ScramblePud · 11/01/2023 13:25

It's interesting, it's somewhat beautiful. Financially speaking, it's entirely worthless.

OrdinaryAva · 11/01/2023 13:29

It’s worth a lot in compensation when they cut their face open.

SlippinKimmy · 11/01/2023 13:30

How much would YOU pay for it, OP, if I offered it to you?

There is your answer.

Saisong · 11/01/2023 13:30

The person it is obviously valuable to is YOU op, how very fortuitous! And the advantage is you get to keep this very valuable object for FREE!

FarmGirl78 · 11/01/2023 13:38

OP, I'm a horder. I started with shit like this in my teenage years. Its a slippery slope. Bin it.

Charlize43 · 11/01/2023 13:42

Is this how hoarding starts?

Dahlietta · 11/01/2023 13:54

It's beautiful! I will give you ten shiny pounds for it.

KimberleyClark · 11/01/2023 14:02

If you did that Japanese thing of repairing it with gold it might be valuable.

KimberleyClark · 11/01/2023 14:04

Ok perhaps not valuable, but pretty to look at, but not drinkable from.

Oh God, this reminds me of when DP dropped his kindle and smashed the screen but wanted to keep it “to hang on the wall like art”. This is how it starts; it ends with cats eating your dead face and the police climbing over 40 years’ worth of the Daily Express to reach your body.

Is this how hoarding starts?

I have watched so many shows about hoarding. I don't know if that's how it starts but it's absolutely what a hoarder would say!!

LookItsMeAgain · 11/01/2023 14:07

Seriously???
It's a bog standard wine glass that has broken into pieces leaving very sharp points and edges. Why on earth would you think it was 'valuable'????

The only person that it would be valuable to would be whoever recycles glass in your area (so use the glass recycling bin for this one).

Teaandtoast3 · 11/01/2023 14:12

Eh. You what now?

No. It’s not art. It’s a broken glass.

GardenTool · 11/01/2023 14:16

🤣

FerretInAFrock · 11/01/2023 14:19

Give everyone a laugh - roll it in glue and glitter, put marshmallows in it and stick it on your local Facebook page.

Pearlygates · 11/01/2023 14:21

OP you never know. Put it on Ebay auction and see what you get for it

DdraigGoch · 11/01/2023 14:22

Well if someone can sell an unmade bed for £2.5m, I suppose that anything goes.

Iamnotausername · 11/01/2023 14:36

Cover it in glitter, stick some battery operated fairly lights and a fake flower in it and pop it on ebay.

sanityisamyth · 11/01/2023 14:43

Put it on Facebook marketplace/eBay and give us a link to it so we can see any comments so we can have a laugh!
