.........or even "Sweet" or "Afters"? What do you call it?
And what do you have, if anything?

Dessert. It's only pudding if it's an actual pudding imo

For example sticky toffee pudding is pudding but apple pie is dessert

Because the UK and MN in particular is absolutely obsessed with class.

You nay be right, @ichundich: but it is sad. In other countries it would be hard to believe that an adult of normal intelligence could write what I’ve quoted seriously.

Pudding for a pudding, ice cream for ice cream, trifle for trifle, afters for tinned fruit cocktail with evaporated milk, dessert at a restaurant which should be fancier than the above.

Where do pudding people go for a wee?

The loo

Giggorata · 10/01/2023 19:16

Pudding is the correct name for the generally sweet course that follows the entree. (although it is eaten with a dessert spoon)
Dessert is a different course, namely fruit, eaten with a knife and fork
Calling pudding dessert, sweet or afters is non u.

Justdancinginthedark · 10/01/2023 19:17

I'm from N.Ireland and say dessert. We have pudding at Christmas.

FlorenceAndTheVendingMachine · 10/01/2023 19:18

Depends how posh I'm feeling.

evtheria · 10/01/2023 19:19

I call it dessert more often than not, as 'pudding' brings to mind something hot and spongey, or like an old fashioned school thing eg rice pudding.
Did not grow up here in UK, however.

Pudding. I can live with dessert, especially if it’s cold but my Nan calls it sweet and that just feels wrong.

HarrysGingerBeard · 10/01/2023 19:19

Pudding. I wee in a loo.

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/01/2023 19:20

Pudding but I usually just have a yoghurt.

DillDanding · 10/01/2023 19:23

Pudding.

Anything else and you’re from Pardonia.

Emmamoo89 · 10/01/2023 19:23

Afters.

Patineur · 10/01/2023 19:26

Pudding, every time.

yikesanotherbooboo · 10/01/2023 19:26

Pudding

yikesanotherbooboo · 10/01/2023 19:28

Pudding people go 'to the loo' or alternatively 'the lavatory'.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 10/01/2023 19:29

Used to be afters when I was growing up, I assume due to northern parents. Now I would say dessert but it's all a bit academic as we don't tend to have them at home and I very rarely eat one out (I'm a starters kind of person 😂)

Luckingfovely · 10/01/2023 19:30

Pudding. And loo. The D word and the T words make me cringe.

maddiemookins16mum · 10/01/2023 19:30

Depends what it is, Mince pies and custard = pudding but fruit pavlova is dessert.

Fifthtimelucky · 10/01/2023 19:32

Definitely pudding - whatever it is.

86Emily · 10/01/2023 19:32

Pudding

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 10/01/2023 19:33

Pudding. But usually cheese, anyway 😉
