AIBU to not be remotely bothered that Rishi has private healthcare

I'm really not - it's an absolutely ridiculous thing for us to be getting worked up about.

He's the prime minister - of course he has private healthcare. Leaders of the country need to be fit and well and therefore need the best healthcare money can buy - we can all agree the NHS is not that - and thats a separate conversation.

By that logic lets ban all childless babysitters, all dogless dogwalkers.

Honestly as a country I feel we're that addicted to getting ourselves into a frenzy over everything that we're focussing on the wrong things.

The narrative of "the poorest of society don't have this - so NO ONE CAN" is getting more and more common lately.

If you think the cut offs make sense, then you don't understand them.

As much as I loathe chippy responses like this I am still interested - what was the issue?

I think he talks a lot about being the son of immigrant parents who, incidentally, contributed a lot to this country. If they could afford his Winchester fees and had high aspirations for him: good. Everyone should do what they can regarding supporting their Dc and I frankly don’t care where they came from. Turns out he has a GP. None of his background makes him unsuitable to be PM. Winston Churchill was a relative of the Duke of Marlborough. Did that make him unworthy or unable to lead the country? Most people think NO!

Turns out he has a GP.

Oh, this non-answer answer really made me laugh. He's 'registered with an NHS GP'. I wonder how far back that goes?

We have private health care and, despite having lived here for nearly 20 years, were never registered with an NHS GP. Until Covid came along and it turned out that you had to be registered to get a vaccine, so we did. Bet the Sunaks did the same thing.

It's like the kid with their hand in the cookie jar saying they didn't eat all the cookies because there's half of one left. Truth by technicality.

I don't care that he has private health care. I do care that he seems unable or unwilling to just be freaking honest.

@done4now
Thats ridiculous. His dad was a GP. No doubt he was registered at home. Schools register boarders with GPS. And so what? We shouldn’t have a society that can ask any stupid question and then blame the pm for not wanting to answer. Now he has snd it’s still the wrong one.

I think Sunak probably knows plenty about GPs. I’m assuming you didn’t want the free childhood vaccinations for your DC( if you have them).

We have private h care
Do not think it makes us bad people!

But if you were asked about it and evaded the question it would be right for people to see you as a bit shifty, no?
