Will come and update

But would you take baby to a&e if this mottled

Cold hands and feet
House is 23 degrees

She has a runny nose and is teething

Thanks

GP would only direct to a&e anyway

They are local to my house but very over used and wondering if I am just wasting their time

She is usually a bit mottled
But not like this

Only when she is sick does she do that

my dc went like this when they were too warm or too cold.

I would check that the nappy is not too tight around the legs and maybe reduce the temp in the room a tiny bit.

Bigshop · 09/01/2023 08:23

Does she have temperature or any other signs of being unwell- apart from the teething.

oudie · 09/01/2023 08:24

No, it wouldn't cross my mind to take mine to A&E because of mottled sling. Tbh I wouldn't even phone my GP for that and I'm not convinced a GP would send you to A&E.

I'm not a medical professional though, so please do as you see fit for your baby. Perhaps nip her into the chemist for reassurance?

greenacrylicpaint · 09/01/2023 08:24

what does her lip look like?
a dark shadow on upper lip shows poor blood circulation and a&e is the right place to go.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 09/01/2023 08:25

No, I wouldn't. I would get her covered and see if that changes anything. To me she looks cold.

If you're worried call 111, though.

onesadmama · 09/01/2023 08:28

Absolutely not. My baby goes mottled when they are cold, or hot, or worked them them up too much, or teething.

I'd literally never think to take them to a&e.

Looks normal to me but maybe there's more you aren't mentioning? Confused

whyayepetal · 09/01/2023 08:32

Does she have a temperature OP? Is she reacting as she normally would (albeit teething atm, but you’ll know what is her “normal” in this situation)

CuntyChopss · 09/01/2023 08:32

First child? There isn’t an accident or an emergency here. You know their skin gets mottled when they’re poorly and they have a runny nose, likely they’ve got or getting a cold. Would you go to a&e with a cold? No. It’s worrying when your child is poorly but this is a rather extreme reaction. Are you prone to that? Anxiety?

jevoudrais · 09/01/2023 08:35

My toddler (2.5) will look like this sometimes if a bit cold or after a bath. It should disappear pretty swiftly xx

DoubleYolker · 09/01/2023 08:36

Does she have a fever?

Is she feeding normally?

Is she behaving normally?

ElizabethBest · 09/01/2023 08:36

Do they have a fever? Have they been unwell? How is their breathing?

Soubriquet · 09/01/2023 08:37

Wouldn’t even cross my mind to take baby to hospital because they looked like that. I would have given them calpol, popped in a onesie and made sure they were warm.

Only if things get worse would I go

stopbeeping · 09/01/2023 08:38

She is cold to touch but she's 36 degrees
It's my third baby and I wouldn't have been concerned but in November she was very poorly with a sort of throat infection so she had anti biotics. She was mottled like this at hospital too and they were showing a lot of concern about it

She's definitely not too hot but she is cold hand and footed cold face
I've wrapped her up more and giving her some warm milk

Our GP send everyone to a&e, it is pathetic. They don't ever see anyone face to face and you can never get help until the last second when soemthing becomes such a problem you end up at an out of hours GP

Thanks for reassurances
I'll bring her to the chemist too

She is off her food and milk
She is teething
She had diarrhoea for 5 days too

She is clingy and only wants to be held (she does not enjoy being held usually)

I never really take my kids to the doctors they are mostly healthy but we have had a stint of 4 months of everyone being constantly unwell and I just have lost my confidence in my own ability to judge any more 😞

What's her temperature?

What's she like in herself? Is she miserable, difficult to settle, listless, anything standing out to you?

Knowing the best course of action isn't always easy, perhaps you could run through her symptoms with 111 for reassurance if nothing else? xx

LucieLemon · 09/01/2023 08:41

Sorry, Cross posted

Timide · 09/01/2023 08:43

Marble skin is normal in babies and so are cold feet/hands. Their thermoregulation is only setting. In ae you are likely to get a real infection

greenacrylicpaint · 09/01/2023 08:46

in that case take her to the gp

I know it feels so strange I'm normally really tough about things with the kids but the boys had their first abx last month age 3 and 6 almost 7 then the baby has had abx 3 times already in her life

If help were more easily accessible and everything not totally inadequate life would be less stressful

Am in Margate and our nhs is a mess

I know 🥹 that's why I don't like going there

She's gone to sleep now
She is soo clingy and sad but I think it's the teeth and possibly all of the dribbling and snot making her go cold? I've been changing her bibs and clothes to keep her dry but they have been getting wet around her face as she is dribbling so much, constantly?

Sorry for the panicked post I had all kids wondering around a crying baby boys due at school and then I saw her little Easter egg skin and my heart just pounded in stress

It's been such a full on Christmas break. Haven't been alone for over a month. Probably just over tired over stimulated and touched out making me anxious over a small problem

Sorry everyone

Is have been concerned too if I’m honest. I have teenager and a 7 year old. Both times youngest has been in hospital he has been mottled and they were really concerned. The first time he had meningitis, the second sepsis. He was unwell with temp both times I should add. But I do think mottling is concerning and I’d never seen it on either of my kids before then or since then 😐 Just wanted to add my thoughts (

He was a baby both times I should add, 9 weeks and then 7 months. Haven’t ever seen mottled skin on him since then

Sirzy · 09/01/2023 08:59

I would try to get into the GP. I never thought twice about mottled skin but it turned out that for DS it was a sign of being ill
