Rutger Hauer in Bladerunner, menacing and scary!

Alan Rickman as Snape/in Die Hard, the sheriff of Nottingham (I may be biased, I think he was amazing in most things)

Bruce Willis in Die Hard, just the right amount of snarky humour.

Gary Oldman as Sirius Black.

Do you have any ‘bang on’ castings?

I do love Alan Rickman in Harry Potter, but I can't bear him in love actually. The idea that a young attractive woman would be lusting after him was just ridiculous!

Clearly I wasn't young at 24 when I had his pictures all over my wall! 😂

KangarooKenny · 08/01/2023 07:50

Alan Rickmansworth as the sheriff of Nottingham was genius. Funny and creepy at the same time.
But my most favourite casting is David Bamber as Mr Collins, he was absolutely perfect.

KangarooKenny · 08/01/2023 07:52

And Alan Rickman’s Colonel Brandon is just delicious.

Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb in Slow Horses. Pure genius.

Came here to say this - I was worried that they wouldn't be able to portray Jackson Lamb the way he is in the books, but he is absolutely perfect!

Jennifer Earle in the BBC's Pride and Prejudice!

TheKeatingFive · 08/01/2023 08:09

Lowering the tone slightly, but Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher in the Amazon series was spot on.

TheKeatingFive · 08/01/2023 08:09

Jennifer Earle in the BBC's Pride and Prejudice!

Both leads in that are absolute perfection

I think every casting is absolutely perfection.

Pottedpalm · 08/01/2023 08:45

Catriona Balfe and Sam Heughan (sp?) in Outlander. 😍

Mapletreelane · 08/01/2023 09:20

Philip Glenister as Gene Hunt

MafaldaHopkirk · 08/01/2023 09:54

I absolutely adore Alan Rickman in everything, including Harry Potter, but it wasn't perfect casting. Snape is supposed to be in his 30s for the entire story and Alan Rickman clearly wasn't, which always rankles slightly.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers was an amazing Henry VIII. Or maybe I just really fancied him. Either way i definitely enjoyed The Tudors.

JaneJeffer · 08/01/2023 17:15

Richard Armitage as John Thornton

Richard Armitage as John Thornton

Love it 😍

Funkyslippers · 08/01/2023 17:26

James Caan and of course Kathy Bates in Misery

GlitchStitch · 08/01/2023 17:33

Tony Shalhoub in Monk.
Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle in Everybody Loves Raymond.
Everyone in The Wire.
Dominic West as Fred West, so well cast I can't watch him in anything else now without finding him creepy.
Matthew McCoughnahey in Dallas Buyers Club.
Woody Harrelson in Hunger Games.
Both of the above in True Detective.

KangarooKenny · 08/01/2023 18:09

I like everything that I’ve seen Jason Watkins in. He was superb in the Christopher Jeffries programme, and the polar opposite but equally as great in Hold The Sunset.

leilani83 · 08/01/2023 18:18

Pretty much everyone in the Walking Dead, especially Andrew Lincoln.

TheGoogleMum · 08/01/2023 18:28

Henry Cavill in the Witcher

I really like Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man

Robbie Downey Jr as Tony Stark

Agree most of LotR cast!

Is it obvious I'm a bit of a nerd?

greenacrylicpaint · 08/01/2023 18:42

arnold vosloo as the mummy

emily dechanel - bones (love love love her)

imelda staunton - dolores umbridge

Funkyslippers · 08/01/2023 19:52

GlitchStitch yes he was a brilliant Fred West, but he's also a might fine Prince Charles in The Crown.
KangarooKenny yes Jason Watkins is great in everything. Loved the Christopher Jefferies drama, he made us really sympathise with the character. He was also really good in Line of Duty (brief appearance!)

SpongeBob2022 · 08/01/2023 20:08

These aren't all based on books but....
Johnny as Jack Sparrow
Alan as Snape and Helena as Bellatrix.
Sandra Oh in Grey's Anatomy
Main characters in Green Mile
The entire cast of The Good Wife

Nogbreaks · 09/01/2023 11:21

Sarah Lancashire in both Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax. Can’t imagine anyone else playing that role.
Erin Kellyman as Jade in Willow - our kids are loving her funny, kick arse knight role.

Nogbreaks · 09/01/2023 11:22

They’re also love the swashbuckling Princess in Willow played by Ruby Cruz

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 09/01/2023 11:38

Connor Swindells and Alistair Petrie as Adam and Mr Groff in Sex Education
