Rutger Hauer in Bladerunner, menacing and scary!

Alan Rickman as Snape/in Die Hard, the sheriff of Nottingham (I may be biased, I think he was amazing in most things)

Bruce Willis in Die Hard, just the right amount of snarky humour.

Gary Oldman as Sirius Black.

Do you have any ‘bang on’ castings?

Another vote for Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie as Jeeves & Wooster - genius casting.

Alan Davies as Jonathan Creek

Cherrysoup · 07/01/2023 23:15

I HATE Remi Malek as Freddie Mercury, but I grew up on Queen, went to their concerts, was obsessed with them. I don’t think any could live up to my expectations.

Austin Butler as Elvis, definitely. He was amazing.

Whatever you may think of him... Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow was iconic from the moment he appeared on screen.

Also for me, Bill Murray as Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters.

Redtortoise1 · 07/01/2023 23:18

Kelly Bishop as Emily Gilmore.

Batcountry8 · 07/01/2023 23:20

Stephen Fry as Oscar Wilde

The whole cast in fact.

Just watched it again

HRTQueen · 07/01/2023 23:20

James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano he was absolutely brilliant

Tom Baker as Dr Who

Jack Nicholson as McMurphy and Louise Fletcher as Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

Jason Alexander as George Costanza in Seinfeld he steals every scene

Michael Kenneth Williams as Omar Little, Jamie Hector as Mario Stanfield, Idris Elba as Stringer Bell and Dominic West as Jimmy McNulty in The Wire (most outstanding characters but there are so so many in this series)

Danny DeVito as Frank Reynolds in Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia just so funny

Marilyn Monroe as Sugar in Some Like it Hot and of course Jack Lemmon as Jerry/Daphne and Tony Curtis as Joe/Josephine characters) the film is perfect

Doingtheboxerbeat · 07/01/2023 23:22

Damian Lewis playing anything American. Show's like Homeland and Billions, were badly impacted when he left, IMHO.

LafayetteCwenchinglyMcQuaffen · 07/01/2023 23:22

@LotteryWinPlease totally agree! I was watching the new Aladdin the other day and I couldn't stop cringing at Will Smith. He was fine, but no one can match Robin Williams.

Also Dustin Hoffman as Hook.

Joanna Lumley as Amanda's Mum in Motherland. Genius!

I came here to say this!

Pugsbladder · 07/01/2023 23:28

Yes Jonathan Scott Taylor was excellent in Omen 2. Christopher Reeve was the ultimate Superman imo. Elizabeth Hartman was sublime in A Patch Of Blue.

Definitely Christopher Reeve as Superman, complimented by Margot Kidder as Lois Lane.

EVHead · 07/01/2023 23:31

The whole cast of Young Sheldon. They’re just as I’d imagined them from Big Bang Theory. So much talent and charisma.

Awesome that Mary Cooper is played by Zoe Perry, the daughter of Laurie Metcalf, who plays her in BBT!

Also Annie Potts (the receptionist in Ghostbusters) as Meemaw - she’s sensational!

year3k · 07/01/2023 23:32

Finch in persons of interest.

MyWillyBrokeTheDogBowl · 07/01/2023 23:33

Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully, perfect.

Also Tom Cruise as Lestat, Kirsten Dunst as Lux in The Virgin Suicides, and Jeremy Irons as Humbert all came exceptionally close to how I viewed them in my head whilst reading the books.

GimmeBiscuits · 07/01/2023 23:33

Apologies if repetition as I'm on my phone and it's not scrolling well for some reason.
David Tenant as Crowley and Michael Sheen as Azirafael (sp?) In Good Omens. Also the late Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes.
Fiona Dourif as Bart in Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.

Maggiesgirl · 07/01/2023 23:34

Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe in Outlander
Jude Hill in Belfast
Jack Lowden in Benediction

GimmeBiscuits · 07/01/2023 23:35

Oh, and Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnson as the Royles. Come to think of it, the whole thing was well cast.

CassTheFox · 07/01/2023 23:37

David Tennant as the Highway Rat 😂

HRTQueen · 07/01/2023 23:37

Christopher Reeves as Superman he was so perfect in the role

I agree, they are all fabulous aren't they, love BBT cast also. All so good in their own way.

Sukisal · 07/01/2023 23:39

Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn.

I thought he was incredible in The Forsyte Saga.

NotSummerYet · 07/01/2023 23:40

Jim Parsons as Sheldon in Big Bang Theory

catfunk · 07/01/2023 23:41

Kieran Culkin in sucession
Jennifer Coolidge in white lotus

determinedtomakethiswork · 07/01/2023 23:42

I do love Alan Rickman in Harry Potter, but I can't bear him in love actually. The idea that a young attractive woman would be lusting after him was just ridiculous!
