It’s been long proven that swearing has no impact on vocabulary, in fact some studies prove the opposite.
That may be true. However, it has been shown that emitting an expletive when you hurt yourself eases the pain but that the effect is weaker for more habitual swearers.

I have kids constantly around me. I like to swear on MN and I'm not apologetic about it.

At home I have to go into an empty room, close door (could be an airing cupboard I'm not fussy) and have a little swearathon.
