To wonder how the Cambridge children are so beautifully behaved?

They sat through the Christmas carol concert so perfectly, and are just so incredibly well behaved when on public outings. They seem delightful and are always so well turned out. As a mum myself, I can’t help wondering - what is Kate and William’s secret? Kudos to the both of them, because they always seem to keep the children in check, but they do it in such a lovely and understated way. They are clearly both naturals with children, because there is no way my unruly brood would be that well behaved at a carol concert. Parenting goals and then some!

@Reindeersnooker ?

Or is there a different one? I mean, it’s not enormously polite but she was only just three, it certainly isn’t yelling!

Alright, she's not yelling 🙄

Getinajollymood · 29/12/2022 15:55

Not sure why I’m getting an eye roll.

It’s probably possible with a bag of distractions, I’ve used that technique myself! But I’ve never seen Kate hand the kids a colouring book or a bag of snacks ever!

That's not that surprising, surely unless you know kate and are with her and her children a,lot ,than you wil l just be seeing, very choreographed snapshots of their extremely privileged life ,I have no doubt they are ordinary kids when they are not in front of the camera

Appleandoranges · 29/12/2022 15:58

I think being able to sit still for a long time is just one minor aspect of good behaviour. There are probably loads of lovely children who can’t keep still. And maybe quite a few badly behaved children who can still still. Also not sure how useful being able to sit still for long periods of time is as an adult. Maybe it’s useful for the royal family. It does make for having an easier life for the parent and teachers though if children can sit still.

They are trained and they live a life free of illness, poverty and have everything they could ever desire.

They’re never ill? Really?

Getinajollymood · 29/12/2022 16:19

I’m sure they have routine childhood illnesses, but Kate isn’t going to be sitting on a hard chair in a and e for ten hours holding a vomiting toddler.

I never did either. Does that mean I’m a princess?

sunglassesonthetable · 29/12/2022 16:26

Possibly 🤦‍♀️ Or just lucky.

Getinajollymood · 29/12/2022 16:29

Sorry, are you trying to give clever retorts here, or are you genuinely not understanding?

All three children have access to the very best healthcare, education, security, full power of the state to ensure that they are safe and well. If you have not personally had to deal with the crumbling remains of our NHS system and are unable to distinguish between your own good fortune and being a princess then I say you are breathtakingly ignorant. Their mother has never had to worry about bothering a busy midwife, getting a same day GP appointment for the children or anything like that - all of that is available on tap, even more so than ‘ordinary’ very rich people - it isn’t just due to money.

That is lovely for them, but to blithely suggest that there is no link at all between one of the most privileged families in the U.K. and good health is quite honestly bloody annoying.

Blossomtoes · 29/12/2022 16:35

it isn’t just due to money.

Of course it’s about money. If you’ve got enough of it you can buy anything. Including the best healthcare available.

Getinajollymood · 29/12/2022 16:37

Yes, you can buy private healthcare. But you are still at the mercy of the NHS in an emergency.

honestlove · 29/12/2022 16:40

Agree with you! I think they are great parents! Yes they have support and everything but how many people in similar positions handle their kids so well! Kudos to Kate and William Smile

Sparklybutold · 29/12/2022 16:42

@Reindeersnooker you know what I mean. If they are ill you can bet they don't have to wait like us plebs do. They are the product of having every whim catered for.

Fleurdaisy · 29/12/2022 16:47

Nannies.

AngelaBrazilNuts · 29/12/2022 16:52

LadyKenya · 29/12/2022 12:52

It is not difficult to understand is it? They have norland nannies from day one as well, not Glenda from no 52, who does childminding as a side hustle.

Well, I don't have a Norland nanny or any nanny-nor do I have bags of money.

However, my children know when to behave and, amazingly, so did I.

It comes to something when well behaved children are so much the exception that a thread is made about them.

No, money is not needed to have well behaved children-maybe a bit of telling them how to behave and not asking them to behave is the difference.

Ponderingwindow · 29/12/2022 16:56

I imagine they are pretty explicit about the reality of the situation. You are going to be on camera. During that time you have to behave perfectly. The rest of the time you can be normal kids. Then model that same type of behavior themselves. Perfect on stage, relaxed and human otherwise.

mathanxiety · 29/12/2022 17:03

@TodayIsFridayHooray

They're tall because their parents are tall.

Of course they aren’t. Why would anyone in their right mind take a vomiting toddler to A&E?

VladmirsPoutine · 29/12/2022 17:13

It would be shocking if it weren't the case. All they have to do is every so often look poised and smile. If that were my one job then I'd be damned bloody great at it. That's pretty much all they have to do.

The very senior royals perhaps not. But remember that the Countess of Wessex was extremely unwell following an ambulance delay when she had extensive bleeding in late pregnancy, followed by emergency delivery of Lady Louise, who spent her first days in a NICU in a separate (also NHS) hospital to the one where her mother had to remain for a few days until stable enough to move. She went NHS for her second delivery too

The Wales DC will not only have been trained in formal manners from an early age, but they have also been surrounded by people who are extremely polite (courtly manners) and that will rub off.

theworldhas · 29/12/2022 17:19

I feel sorry for them as they will never know any kind of normal life. They won’t get to do silly shit in their teens or have one night stands, or drop out of college and start anew, or make friends with random people from outside their circle, or do some simple low paid job that makes them happy. Instead they have to grow up in a goldfish bowl for the pleasure of readers of Hello and Mail Online. And even if they did have the balls to decide to turn their back on their “Duty” they’d still get hounded by the paparazzi and negatively judged for the rest of their adult lives.

SerenaTee · 29/12/2022 17:22

I’ve always assumed there’s a deal with the media to sanitize what they show on tv / publish in papers etc. So the cameras will cut away if one is picking their nose, yawning etc, it’ll be part of the deal for wheeling them out at public events in return for being left alone the rest of the time.

Getinajollymood · 29/12/2022 17:23

It’s often what you’re told to do, @Krakenwakes , or I was anyway. Ds puked over me and I was sat there covered for a long time. It was not fun.
