I know this guy has been around a while, but I only bothered watching some if his YouTube stuff recently. My impressions are - He is very articulate I alternate between thinking he is very insightful and feeling irritated by the 'mansplaining' tone of it all Some people say he is offensive / misogynist, but I haven't really encountered that?? I get vibes from him of an evangelical (slightly peculiar / deranged?) nature underneath the calm and logical veneer? When interviewed by Piers Morgan, why did he start crying very suddenly out of nowhere? What was all that about? Something seems 'off', but also he makes a lot of sense in some ways. AIBU?

Jordan Peterson is not very clever. But he's able to come across to thick people as being intelligent (see also Boris Johnson and Russell Brand). The only vaguely smart thing he's capable of is pushing idiots' buttons. I've been around plenty of very intelligent people and JP is a total fraud (and I've been around a few of them too).

I didn't know about the crying

but I often get a sense that can't believe what's going on in his life - from addiction to the health problems in his family. I wonder if he wishes he'd been a quiet academic - so he has risen to a challenge rather than seeking it out.

I do think he seems volatile but addicts often seem like that.

I may be misinterpreting your post?
I do like him. The addiction problem is one I'm very familiar with. I didn't think he'd come back from it but I am very glad he did.
