DH poured water from his tooth mug into the kettle.

Just this. I saw him do it. He cleans his teeth in the kitchen (arggh). He had done his teeth and still had some water in his tooth mug, so as not to waste it, he took the lid off the kettle and poured the water in. That would have been in my fucking cup of tea in the morning if I had not seen it happen (or our visitors first coffee). I emptied and washed the kettle and told him that it was the most disgusting thing I had seen for a long time. I said I was going to get a second kettle purely for my use. He promised never to do it again, but what worries me, is what other horrible things he secretly get up to.

I mean it's a bit odd, but the water's going to be boiled before anyone uses it. I'm not sure these reactions are necessary.

Why does he do his teeth in the kitchen?

Wimpeyspread · 28/12/2022 18:43

This place gets weirder - have that many people really not heard of a tooth mug?

Monica2507 · 28/12/2022 18:45

I had to open this thread just to find out what a tooth mug was. And I'm still not sure. 😂 But whatever it is it's gross and should not be going in the kettle!

Oysterbabe · 28/12/2022 18:46

I mean I didn't find it hard to work out what a tooth mug is but I don't have one or think they are necessary.
You aren't supposed to rinse your mouth after brushing. I just wipe my mouth.

WHERE IS HE EMPTYING THE PENIS BEAKER?

😂😂😂😂😂😂

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 28/12/2022 18:48

A. I’ve heard of a tooth mug.
B. I don’t really see what the problem is, assuming he hasn’t actually gobbed in the mug. I mean, it’s not something I would do, but the water’s going to be boiled anyway. I’d be more bothered by the idea of making tea with water that’s been sitting in the kettle all night.

He brushes his teeth in the kitchen because he says the sink in the bathroom is too low - tbf he is quite tall. The fucking tooth mug bothers me so much because I don't know if it EVER gets washed - I certainly don't involve myself with washing it - I kind of disapprove of the whole project. DH is the washing up person in our house (we don't have a dishwasher - he thinks they waste water) but I don't think I have ever see the dreaded tooth mug on the drying rack. So even more YUK.

Ah, that is a bit yuck.

TashaBasha · 28/12/2022 18:56

You're trying to make this the new dick beaker post aren't you? I see through you... 😜

Busstopgone · 28/12/2022 18:56

Before I read the thread I was picturing a mug that he kept his dentures in overnight 😆

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 28/12/2022 18:59

You're aware this is probably just the first time you've caught him, not the first time he's done it, right?

Luckyducker · 28/12/2022 19:01

Omg, I could not have him near me.

VioletLemon · 28/12/2022 19:03

Does he also pee in your coffee? This is completely grotesque, hats off for handling living with someone this disgusting.

Blondewithredlips · 28/12/2022 19:03

I would divorce if it was me. Nothing he could say or do after this would make things ok.
Disgusting "man"

SlouchingTowardsBethlehemAgain · 28/12/2022 19:04

@FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee This is what worries me Fuckoffee, I can't be on his case all day and night, we have a fairly relaxed home. If he thinks the tooth mug/kettle thing is OK what the fuck else is he doing that he thinks is normal?

OP posts:
Florenz · 28/12/2022 19:05

It's not dangerous at all, boiling water would kill any germs, but I still wouldn't do it.

Oysterbabe · 28/12/2022 19:06

Well he's clearly been doing this twice a day since forever. What the fuck difference does the height of the sink make?

AriettyHomily · 28/12/2022 19:08

How can a sink be too low, I've just been away and we were put in accessible room, the sink was wheelchair height in the bathroom. It wouldn't have crossed my mind to not use the bathroom sink. Just bend down a bit?

GrumpyPanda · 28/12/2022 19:12

He's dead wrong re dishwashers. They're far more resource-efficient than washing up by hand - here's just one article on it but you can find multiple more.

McDonaldsMcChanel · 28/12/2022 19:14

Sorry but TOOTHMUG is the word of the day 😂

SlouchingTowardsBethlehemAgain · 28/12/2022 19:14

@AriettyHomily I agree Arietty, he says bending hurts his back, so he has this whole tooth cleaning, flannel for face washing in the kitchen. I make him keep them all in a cupboard, but I can't say I like it.

ExtraOnions · 28/12/2022 19:30

It was just a mug if water … out of the tap.. that he drank some out of, and what was left he poured into the kettle rather than pouring it away? I’m struggling to see the problem.

You do know that boiling the water would kill off any mythical germs …

No wonder the climate is in a mess

They've done research into this and it's been shown that it doesn't really make much difference either way

If you don't rinse properly you leave food residue and bacteria in your mouth which can cause decay

If you do rinse you wash away most of the fluoride which can cause decay

It's down to personal preference really

ShakeYourFeathers · 28/12/2022 19:33

That's gross!

I feel that tooth mug is in the same realms has penis beaker
