Just that really.

Doesn't help with cooking.

Doesn't help clearing up.

Doesn't top up water filter.

Doesn't bring any food, treats or booze.

Just complains at the size of her portions she is served up.

Always this way. Every year. She is fit and healthy and fairly young.

I have a young child who wants to be attached to me, instead I am doing things for her.

I refuse to demonise a woman for managing to parent 3 children who as adults, are choosing to run around after her all Christmas while she sits on her arse with a glass in her hand 😂

If no one else minds, then cut her some slack? That's their Mum, and she likely did it for many many years 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Gemmanorthdevon I mind!

Why should she change your kid's nappy though? I don't think that's her job.

failinghard · 27/12/2022 16:51

@CocoLux because I was out shopping and she was looking after him. Because it's her grandson. Because I cannot be in two places at once. Because the alternative is leaving a baby in a wet / dirty nappy, which is ridiculous.

She's not a guest I would have in my house for more than a day and she's clearly unfit to do childcare if she won't change a nappy.

That said, there are lots of FILs/fathers who behave like her and get away with it because they are accompanied by helpful spouses.

Maybe she would have preferred to be a father/grandfather but biology conspired against her?
