Dark circles under Eyes

Aquarius1234 · 24/12/2022 15:14

Some adults hardly have any and others look like they have been punched in the face under their eyes, purple/ dark areas etc.
So am I being unreasonable to be envious of those without them?
What's the secret?

I dont just want to use concealer etc.
Mine have got worse since early twenties.
I could do with an extra hour sleep a night but I think I'm missing vital ingredients to improve the appearance...

The secret if not concealer?

sleep and genes

Ursuladevine · 24/12/2022 15:19

i sleep well and very active
no dark circles

Although my brother does the opposite ie limited sleep and not active
no dark circles

so I suspect genes more than anything

PeppermintChoc · 24/12/2022 15:20

Good concealers anyone? Im finding the good ones now fold in my crease even using a primer…

Mushroomlady · 24/12/2022 15:20

No idea but I have dark circles and I think it's genetic. Tiredness, dehydration, eating badly and rubbing my eyes makes them worse. Apart from addressing the above, concealer and a bit of foundation helps me look slightly less deathly. I'm not as bothered about them as I used to be, life is too short.

Fillers work for dark circles.

Aquarius1234 · 24/12/2022 15:21

More vegetables?

More iron in your diet can help.
Also Eborian cc cream is like magic

Beauty pie under eye brightened .

I am fit, healthy and sleep well and have dark circles under my eyes. I'm 40.
The woman who does my Botox advised that it's due to lost elasticity in my skin and that filler would help. I'll prob get it next year at some point!

Hereeverysaturdaynight · 24/12/2022 15:23

It can be a sign of liver function not being ideal, but if you wear makeup, it's easily covered up.

More vegetables?

Always a good thing
but unlikely to make any difference unless of course you don’t consume any fruit or veg!

Use an eye cream first to hydrate the skin and fill in any lines.

Creatingusernamesismygame · 24/12/2022 15:27

I suddenly got dark circles in my early twenties. But for me it was when my allergies flared up.
Best concealer for full coverage is the tarter shape concealer. IMO and I’ve tried many. Nars radiant concealer is also full coverage but a more light weight product.

How do you improve liver function?.
Guess I'll maybe buy the magic above concealer mentioned.
I'm pale skinned.

It's genetic, I have them as does my oldest DD who is only 7 and gets tons of sleep and obviously doesn't drink! My younger DD doesn't have them. Mine definitely get worse when very sleep deprived, but beyond that there is nothing to be done apart from a good concealer / corrector. Lots of people have them, I doubt anyone even notices.

Aquarius1234 · 24/12/2022 15:36

I doubt mine would ever go away now. More sleep might slightly improve the look.. more exercise maybe. I have purple colour.

Without knowing your diet and alcohol intake and the amount of screen time you dedicate every day… difficult to say whether you could make any changes which might improve the circles 🤷‍♀️

Aquarius1234 · 24/12/2022 15:40

Oh dear does screen time make lines under eyes get worse and worse..

FeedMeSantiago · 24/12/2022 15:43

It's genetic in my case - me, dad, his brothers and sisters and his mother all have them badly no matter how much sleep we have. My mum can barely sleep at all for days and no dark circles.

Try setting spray on your concealer before you apply powder - get a little setting spray on your ring fingers and lightly dab it over your concealer and keep dabbling until it's gone. It removes the excess and helps reduce creasing. Particularly useful if you have dry skin or more mature skin. I also use a little colour corrector before foundation.

Concealer wise, my favourite is Revolution Conceal and Hydrate concealer. Cheap, doesn't dry out on my skin as much as other brands. EX1 cosmetics concealers are good, but I prefer a doe foot applicator. L'oreal infallible concealer is also good IMO.
