Thanks so much v v helpful

She is v v loved so rehoming not on the cards

So was mine.

however when we saw him in his new home we realised how absolutely miserable he’d been.

as much as we loved him it was selfish to keep him. He was a different cat.

we were lucky enough to have a relative take him, so kept in touch.

Put up with it then. This cat doesn't like to be one of 6 and is communicating that. Whether you listen to that is up to you. It's that simple.

AftersomeAdvice234 · 23/12/2022 23:02

Hi we had this too, our cat never sprayed. we came home one day and she had sprayed on the worktops it was stress

we eliminated the stress and she stopped spraying

your poor cat. I know you’ve said you have a big house but can you ensure the other cats who are causing this stress stay away from her always?

thisisasurvivor · 23/12/2022 23:03

Yes we can

Some of the rest are upstairs and have cat flaps

She has Lounge and kitchen

Lil bit pampered 😂😂🥰🥰🥰🥰

Oh and I’m afraid advice on here re cats detesting tin foil isn’t true for all cats, ours loves playing with 😄

LaPerduta · 23/12/2022 23:04

If you have five cats
And they are vicious to her
She will be fed up.

AftersomeAdvice234 · 23/12/2022 23:05

How are the vicious to her if they are separated? this may be an odd question but I’m just trying to understand

RichardsGear · 23/12/2022 23:05

You might have every facility going, but if one cat is being very vicious towards her then it's not fair to make her endure this situation.

thelobsterquadrille · 23/12/2022 23:07

If you really love her, then do what's right by her and find her a home where she's happy.

I know it's really horrible to contemplate but if she's stressed and feeling territorial, nothing will change while she's forced to share her space with so many other cats.

AftersomeAdvice234 · 23/12/2022 23:07

Also, it sounds like it’s not enough to keep them apart. This cat has territorial issues and is stressed perhaps she can hear/ smell the other cats and knows they are close.

it sucks but it might be time to have a look at what Is best for her.

ladydimitrescu · 23/12/2022 23:09

If the other cats are horrible to her, she's stressed and she needs a new home where she's the only cat. She's telling you something is wrong, please listen to her.

WeepingSomnambulist · 23/12/2022 23:09

So, they're not free to roam? They're kept within a couple rooms each?

It is stress. Keeping them in their own quarters and not allowing them to roam will cause stress.

Allowing them to roam around the house when there are so many of them will cause stress.

The cat peeing on places is a stress reaction. The way you are keeping the cats is not making this cat happy. Make changes. Not just to the kitchen surfaces to force her to stop; she will still be miserable. Make changes to how you keep your cats.

googleeyes · 23/12/2022 23:15

She's terribly unhappy.

If you love her find her a home where she'll be happy.

(I can swap you my cat - she doesn't wee or deficate inside....but there might be other things about her that drive me mad....you'll find out what they are, after the swap)

LuckyPeonies · 23/12/2022 23:40

Do you recall any changes that coincide with her starting to do this? If so, going back to ‘normal’ may well help.

i agree with the suggestion to have her checked for a bladder infection/crystals, they can be caused by stress and in turn cause inappropriate elimination. I also second the Feliway, it does help to calm them. There are also litter additives you can use to attract her to the trays, cat attract is one.

As for keeping her off counters, I’ve found double-sided tape to work well. Stays put, easy to remove, and they hate to step on it. Good luck, I know they can be annoying little beasts, but they are so cute. 😻

Lockheart · 23/12/2022 23:40

It doesn't sound like you have enough room for that many cats. She is obviously unhappy and stressed. I know it's hard but I would seriously consider rehoming - keeping her in this environment would be cruel.

Snort at haikus.
You’re not
wrong.

BilliousBob · 24/12/2022 08:13

My cat did a poo
In the bathroom sink yesterday
I think Christmas stress?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 24/12/2022 08:25

Your cat sounds stressed

A check up is essential

Hope she is well soon

CatNutsRoastingByAnOpenFire · 24/12/2022 08:26

She is trying to tell you something.
Agree with other comments.
She is stressed and needs to be the only cat.
She is unhappy. Stress can cause UTI.

RambamThankyouMam · 24/12/2022 08:29

Beside the point, but I love the way you write like haiku, OP.

BilliousBob · 24/12/2022 08:36

Some cats need to be

solitary; on thier own.

No other cats in the house.

Newuser82 · 24/12/2022 09:05

Do your cats go outside?

Fleurdaisy · 24/12/2022 09:10

thisisasurvivor · 23/12/2022 22:33

So useful

My vet is open again next week

She is v v pampered but another cat dislikes her 😡😡😡😡

There’s your reason, probably too many cats for the “territory” ( your house ).
Until you can find a solution, cut up a cardboard box and lean pieces of cardboard against the sockets. Wash workshops in vinegar as pp suggested and leave saucers of vinegar on the worktop.
